I love your headstock photo!In with an updated (sort of) family pic! Left out the NS-X because I'm not setting it down on wet snow/deck and it doesnt really fit on a stand.
edit: anyone with a Teal NS-2A know how to photograph the actual color? It ALWAYS looks blue in all pictures taken inside and out, but in real life its a very greenish teal.

But I am actually digging the fully passive mode better.
My first bass with a maple board and passive pickups since I was a teen.
PJ said it was spec'd as "Blue" so its not really a Bahama Blue.
It's hard to get the exact color photographed. It's sorta in-between the group photo and the studio photo below.
Very pleased with the Natural Growl. Still getting acclimated with the non NS body. But I am surprisingly very impressed.
Will post some sound clips soon.
WoW! It's a stunner! Glad to hear that you noticed that natural growl. Plays like butter? Which string are/have you put on or did you stay with the Spector strings it came with? I believe you're the first club member with a USA Coda 4 Deluxe Jazz bass...34" scale? Looking forward to your sound clips.

Thanks Ice, I noticed that headstocks don't get a lot of love around here, but since I got a good response from my previous headstock pic of them in the woods, I figured I'd try a new one

No flats for me Lee.
Couldn't stay with the Spector Nickels because of Nickel Allergy.
But have Spector Formula 603 Strings on it.
Here is a comparison clip of it with the OBP2 and Passive and I put a NS-2 at the end so you can hear the tonal difference.

Lima Guy, I like the fat bottom sound it has, in passive it has more of a string sound as your picking the notes but still retains the fat bottom.

I believe it was you and then me that received the Forte 4 in our club also? I figured you'd have the Spector 603 on your Coda
. Thank you for the sound clip comparison...the Coda is fuller and deeper, which is what I like about the Coda. I try the passive now and again but I prefer the growl the active adds to the tone. With flats on mine I usually set bass at 75-100% depending on song and rig used, treble set at 60%. The NS-2 #603 is grittier more bite/bark.
Was your preamp settings flat on 603 as well?+1!!!
I like that FAT bottom end! Haha!

Been working a lot lately and I just found out Queensryche is playing a show 5 minutes from my house!!!!! At a place that holds less than 1000 people. Super stoked to hear some EJ live again.
Going to pick up tickets tomorrow for the show in a few weeks.

There are two different versions of the Ryche, one with Geoff Tate and a different backing band - including Rudy Sarzo on bass, and the other which is most of the original band members with a different vocalist. Both would be a lot of fun to see live
What kind of reaction you have because of your allergy? I'm just curious did you find out while bass playing?
I was lucky enough to see them with Geoff just before they broke up. The sounded great. As much as I admire Rudy, EJ is the tone in my head.... That said, I will see both bands if the other QR comes around.
The bass that lead me to the Spector world: NS2000/5. Play just as good as my Peavey Cirrus custom shop, if not better. Thinking about swapping the onboard pre-amp to tonepump, if anyone want to sell, pls send me a pm.
Those quilted-top models are pretty rare, thats a good one you got there. The 35" scale and maple neck-through give a nice tight B-string.
I've got one but havent been playing it much since I got my 6, but still those are great basses for the price!

I was going to PM you but I figured maybe this would be helpful to some others who dont realize they may have an allergic reaction to Nickel and Nickel Strings.
Throughout High School and College I would always have extreme eczema on my hands.
It was so bad that I would usually have to wear bandages on my hands since they had some major cuts.
When I ended up getting a full time non music related job after College I only played my basses once in a while. My eczema went away and I never put the 2 together.
After I had I had bypass surgery I started playing bass again and suddenly my hands started getting severe eczema again.
Around the same time I found Talkbass and found a thread on Nickel String Allergies. I switched to Steel strings and my eczema went away.
I have about a 5 min cut off time with nickel strings and I start to get really itchy and then my hands start to get red and so on....
Just so happens this is also what lead me to needing bypass surgery because I first had Stents which had a high Nickel content and they ended up getting blocked after 6 months.
I am also allergic to Cobalt and there are also a few brands steel strings I break out from.
Sorry for the long rant.
If anyone has any questions about Nickel Allergy feel free to PM me.
