SPECTOR® Owners Club

MD - sorry to hear about the grief and PITA that PB seems to have caused. FWIW you might want to look into some of the practices of their competitors as it relates to drain plugs. IIRC some if the Jiffy Lube type places had a rash of similar issues years ago and ended up creating a "second set of eyes" visual check and sign off to confirm the tech tightened the drain plug and filter before the car is returned to the owner. If that's the industry norm and PB doesn't have a similar Quality Control process they might be more likely to be found liable for damages in court. Good luck, hope all comes out well.

No joke. I know somebody who's daughter had that happen with JL, but that was over a decade ago. 2nd set of eyes = good idea. Sorry to hear about that totally unnecessary inconvenience. Lame :rollno:

Thanks I'll do that.
I've been searching for the "small post" replacement and I'm not finding anything. I'm surprised this hasn't come up more often in this group. So if you find out from PJ, please let us know.

In pure Spector fashion, they use a oddball tuner that a guy cannot replace.
Tulsa bassist here! What exactly will be going on at the spector hang out? Never played one or seen one IRL but I've always been extremely curious.
Do they have beer in Tulsa?:hiding:

MD /.. WOW that sux and just my .02 could you not get a rental and charge them for the rental until you have a car or that car fixed at least. they should bend over backwards to help you . you are not the only person I have heard this happen too . I hope and Pray the expedite this so you do NOT HAVE TO SELL the FORTE.

The GB7 is all I'm getting but if it's a small post....hummm, who knows! It's best to ask Spector as you have said or maybe Todd would know more about this or have a replacement part at the Guitar House.

As for the beer question, I'm almost sure they have it in Tulsa but I'm hoping they have a little whiskey there as well! lol

Anyone here have experience with either a Sterling Ray34 and a Spector Legend 4? I am narrowing down a purchase to either one and I was looking for some feedback. I am looking to sell or trade a P bass with major mods for one or the other and I do not know if I am nucking futs or not.

Get the Spector. The Sterling pales in comparison.

They're different beasts. Neither is better than the other. In fact, I quite like the SBMM Ray series. Neither one plays or sounds like the other. Both are exceptionally well built, though.

Ahh. Maybe it's just because SBMM basses are part of the extremely limited selection we have over here that I am not a fan. :D

I'll always say get the Spector as a matter of course. Really though, the decision is yours to pick what best suits you. :bassist:

I've worked with the GB7s before. I figure that if they're good enough for the US series, they're a-okay for a Euro too. And if for some reason, the pegholes have to the widened, I can help with that. I had to ream the holes on swampy to accommodate the GB7s.

So I got my Zoom B3 last night and gave it a test drive. Pretty cool! I was curious to see if there is a go to patch all you spector guys with the zoom go to and what settings are you using? Thanks!

I've very interested in one of these. I'd use it at home with headphones, (because I don't have a gig). Have you tried the headphone out yet? How does it sound? What about the drum settings? I'd want to play with some sort of drum machine/loop.

I think sam may have posted some settings on one of these....

Sam (Limaguy) posted settings in the last thread, using the TScream, EQ, and SVT emulator together. You can go back and find it, or someone may have saved it and can post it again for you.
I saved it as a preset in my B3; I use it a LOT.

Well, some really absurd car trouble looks like it'll force me to put Lee/Eric's Haz equipped Forte on the block effective immediately...

Got an oil change at the local Pep Boys two days ago as I have dozens of times before, and while I was out driving today the oil check light start going on and off sporadically; I'd nearly made it back for them to check out what the issue was when the light went on solid and the engine stopped.

Once AAA arrived for a tow I discovered that the drain plug was missing from the oil pan and the engine was essentially dry. So, due to the incompetence of the tech who apparently must have only screwed the plug in a thread or two deep instead of ten or so, I now may need a whole new engine.

Unbelievable.

If I can get my JAR and Rex sold quickly hopefully I can avoid selling the Forte, but if not it's going to have to go while I fight Pep Boys to have them pay for the damage.

Feel free to PM interest in any of the basses my way, condolences and indignation wouldn't be unwelcome either.
Man...:ninja: That happened to me once also, after having the timing chain replaced which involved draining the oil and dropping the oil pan. My family and I picked up our family van from the dealer and immediately left for a family get together for Easter. While on the road the low oil light came on and at the same time I noticed smoke barreling from behind our van. I pulled over immediately looked underneath the van engine to be surprised by oil streaming out of the engine oil pan! The dealer ended up paying for the tow truck, oil and oil pan plug with no problem though. Atleast my engine didn't seize like yours did. I hope they make it right for you Matt. Hopefully you won't have to sell your basses either.

Thanks for all of the support guys.

The funny thing is, I'm perfectly capable of changing my own oil, I just think that it's worth $18 to not spend the hour and deal with the mess of doing it myself. The same reason I don't have my mechanic do it actually; his time is more valuable than that.

Still hoping this story somehow has a good ending, I'll definitely keep you all posted.

Sweet! That's perfect. :D

Hey, I'm the same way. I used to change my oil but now it's worth it to have someone else do it. You just have to trust them. ;)
^^This is one of the reasons I change my own oil...plus I use very expensive oil, Mobil1 synthetic, it's worth it.
