That's weird. I find sitting with the bass positioned on my right knee alleviates the issues I have had with the reach to the lowest frets on the NS body, even on 35" scale basses. It feels no different than any other bass in that position to me. Standing, I find it does help to lower the strap length but I can still feel a stretch in my left arm on songs where I'm in first position for a long time. I am also a bit on the short side and with short arms to boot. Wish I had some advice that would help you.
That is pretty much the same experience I have since I play my NS-5J2. It became worse when I extended the strap. Currently I reduce its length week by week and see if I get a less stressy position. I have to note that this is the fact despite having reasonable arm length. Me thinks the 35" scale is a bit too much of a good thing!?

NBD...my final piece as I transitioned from Fender. No knock on Fender, I love them too.
However, Spectors just give me the sound I was hearing in my head the last few years. Bought 3 in the lat 2 months.

The red one on this board is on hold for me.
I've got 2 videos of the white one from the seller.
Seems like a really nice guy.
Frets are in good condition.
It does look really clean but the volume pot is trash; in the video, when he turns it you can hear dead spots and I don't think that DeOxit is going to fix it.
Wonder if this pot is source-able.

Not sure if this is connected but Duff2 had to stop production of his HAZ copy as he can no longer source the long shaft parts.
He has some new ones coming in but will have to adjust the circuit to work.

Tonight I need to decide; red or white
Is the Spector white a bright white?
My 73 J in Oly white is nearly yellow which I like.

NS2's in the Kramer era and before look pretty yellow....
Most Euros are white white...like a Tylenol.
Most NS2a's I've seen are in between....like an egg.

I still like solid red...rare color for a NS2a...
