The old-school idea sounds kinda cool, but at the end of the day it wouldn't sound like one (white EMGs are cool, but not dimarzios) the tonepump is definitely close, but no cigar. I personally think the chrome hardware would look odd on an old-school styled Spector.

However I do LOVE the idea of a hot-rod Spector Euro, Metallic paint with racing stripe like Zitch said, maybe not so far as to have number graphics (that would be some significant custom work) or special pickups (routing templates) since those would be a lot of custom for a Euro run.

IMHO a nice compromise that would be cool in the hot rod/muscle/racing theme would be to have metallic paint (blue, yellow, orange, red, something flashy like those) with a racing stripe, and maybe Aguilar pickups in either an SS, or PJ, or humbucker setup like they currently make in existing Spector basses, that would be totally killer, without a ton of special extra work, outside the racing stripe! I think this would be totally plausible.

I totally agree as this is exactly what I have been thinking also. Since there has been a white and the last ones were blue, a different color such as hot rod red with metallic silver, chrome hardware, MOP inlays, maple FB, matching headstock. Maybe dual white racing stripes running the length of the body to the neck would jazz it up more.

They're different beasts. ReBops have a different neck profile, and a fully carved NS body with a bolt-on neck with extended heel. They also have euro hardware, which is slightly better than the Legend stuff. The stock pick-ups are true EMGs, not the EMG-SSDs and the Pre-amp is a Tonepump, compared to a TPJr, but that's all subjective to what you like in sound and feel more than it is on quality.

The thing is, there are tons of old school re-issues done by Spector. I'd like to see something new.

After getting my Euro4 LX, I have a hard time seeing how a US bass could be any better. I'm sure they are, I'm just not sure how....And I don't know if my skill level would ever justify a US build. So what I guess I'm saying is don't sell the Euro short.

You know I thought the very exact thing when I had my former Ian Hill Euro 4LX. That bass was DYNOMITE! I couldn't see how it could get any better period! But from the very first time I held my new Forte 4 and felt the difference in craftsmanship, details, balance, it felt like it was totally weightless! Then the tone when I plugged it in...WOWZERS! I'm here to say, after 3 USA Spector builds, a Euro comes close but not all the way there. I'm not talking down Euros or Korean models not at all, they all are amazing basses...but the USA hand built are "that much" more. And don't sell your bass playing skills short...a better made bass will better your playing skills. For one, you'll want to play it non-stop, more playing time equals more honed playing skills. Plus what does skill level have anything to do with enjoying a FANTASTIC piece of artwork that you can play as well as enjoy looking at while playing or hanging on your wall? Peace

Traded the Euro 5LX J/J for a '99 NS5CRFM in 34" scale and serial number in the control cavity. I was throwing it out there as a long shot when I posted about the decision to let go of the Euro due to the scale being uncomfortable. But, there was a 34" scale NS5CRFM in the classifieds for trade and the owner was local, so I thought why not give it a try. Next thing I know, we're swapping basses in the parking lot of a Home Depot in northern Orlando.

This Spector is perfect for me. Not too heavy, scale length issues solved, and she is a beautiful hunk of maple if I may say so. It may have taken 5 tries, but I finally think I found my keeper Spector.

Some crazy figuring on this bass, never seen anything like it.
Hard to capture in pics, and subtle because of the deep blue, but I love it.

I remember you were inquiring on this one when I initially mentioned I might sell it. Glad you had a second opportunity to nab it.... great bass!!!

The chrome inlays will cost a lot according to PJ so if that is chosen we might do the 12th fret idea, I would like to suggest seeing more color ideas and once we lock it down to the top or best 3 we also need to see if its been used before so we can possibly select something new or different....sound good?

Why don't we lay out all the colors that have been suggested and put it to a vote?
That worked for us once before. I believe LimaGuy setup "Monkey Poll" or something like that.

in a word yes. But dont buy new keep an eye on the classifieds here , they are underrated and can be had for incredible deals, got mine here in 2011 for 625 it was new and beautiful.
