Anyone in Canada know of a Spector in the $4-500 range? Prefer a 5 string and Legend or ReBop...will take an NS-2A, or a 4 string, though. Needs to be in Canada, though, as duty/tax from the US makes even a $350 bass cost almost $600.

Them's mine. Ns-94 on left with trim pump, emg 35p at neck and 35dc at bridge. Ns-2000/5 on right with newly acquired trim pump and emg-hz's.

Left is NS-94, right ns NS20005. Not sure of owners.
The NS-94 was an SSD, the NS20005 started as an SSD bass but some were produced after Stuart got the Spector name back, as you can see this NS20005 has the double-S logo

Thanks, I'm very excited to have found the Spector that meets my needs. No issues with the B-string either and the D & G strings sound fuller and fatter to me. The neck profile is also thicker front-to-back than my Euro was and I definitely prefer a thicker neck on my Spectors. My Euro LX's neck (the one traded to xhawk5) seemed to have a thinner profile like my old ReBop had. It wasn't uncomfortable, something about those deep neck shapes on Spectors just feels right to me.

I'm taking it to practice tomorrow for the first time and I'm very excited to hear how she does. My first Spector was a NS-5CRFM, and that was my favorite bass for a long time. The weight of the bass, plus the 35" scale, did me in. But, I never forgot how much I loved that bass. I am really happy to have another without the massive weight and the with the shorter scale length. Like I said when I first posted about it, I think I found my keeper.

Very happy for you MJ! I'm just as happy with the Euro JJ. I found a way to get that "Spector Zing" it seemed to be lacking slightly. (Pickup height... yep, it was that easy ).
I love the slightly diminished neck profile also. Makes it so the 35" scale feels like a 34". Being that the bridge is set back slightly than the CR5, it hangs in a perfect position where my plucking hand fits in my fav spot! Great trade!

Hi dear Spector owners. I own a Euro LX 4 with PJ pups, and I really, really, REALLY hate the reverse pups. I'll be honest, I wouldn't buy this bass if I didn't live in Israel where it can't be bought anywhere except 1 store that doesn't have any 40Dc pups.
I'm also a MM stingray owner, which I love dearly, but prefer the Spector. The only thing about the MM that's better than the Specotr is the HH pups.
I would really like a Spector with 2 40 DC's
Ok so here we go:

I'll just point out everything that bothers me and see what can be done.
Firstly, I'm a 3 finger player, so I can't anchor my thumb above the pup because there's such little distance between the P and the J.
I don't like the P in general because It's not a Dc40, but will let it slide.
I can't anchor my thumb on that screw. I just don't get how people find this comfortable.
Last but not least, for some reason, the strings are REALLY tight when not played near the neck, but I guess that's a gauge issue.

Do you guys have ANY suggestions?
It seems to me that the best solution would be making some pup cover to cover both pups, but that lays under the strings.. I think that would cost me around 300$ though, which I'd much rather not spend.
Help a fellow owner please!

!. You could always install a thumbrest
2. Learn to let your thumb "float". I am taking fretless lessons, and due to the position of the body, and my arm/shoulder (what they consider proper posture and position for playing bass), it actually hurts to anchor my thumb. Plus, my instructor wants me to let it hang. If you don't rely on a "thumb anchor", you won't even think about it.

Just a couple comments.

1. I don't put my thumb on the P pup screw, I put it in front. I'll concede that I'd like a little more room for my thumb though, but I'm used to it.
2. The reversed P pup is a Spector thing and you'll only get away from it if you buy a Coda P.
3. See if there's a way to purchase online. You'll get some variety that way. We have members from Russia, Norway, Germany, etc. Maybe they can help. I know one thing they do is have someone in the states to take delivery and then ship to you. This is the best way to get a good deal on a used bass.
4. Sounds like what you want is a Euro4 TW with DC's instead of the TW's.
5. From your description I'm not sure if the TW will give you the room you need. You may be better served by a JJ pickup config.​

Sunday morning practice session with the judgmental (as always) cat perched atop my SWR combo - it's her fave lounging spot while I practice with the headphones so as to not wake the rest of the clan. Great morning though, good coffee, Spectors and no distractions.

I think the best bet would be to try to trade for a Euro with dual DCs. The thing I would do, though, is learn to float my thumb, or anchor on the body. It will make you quite fast at moving, too.

My cats like to sleep on my YBA-300 while I have it turned on. Nice & toasty warm for their bums. Unfortunately, the smell of burning cat hair falling through the grate is not a pleasant one.
