I did not love the redwood back on the bass that had it. I felt like that and the helium bridge didn't quite have the heft and low thump that my my other Spector's did. Definitely a little more in the midrange than the traditional scoop. The NS-4 I had with the walnut back and maple front pounded like no other. That black walnut may add a little weight, but it adds serious lows as well. I do like my Euro 435LX with the alder back and maple top (mine has the US 9v Haz in it, which is the key for me).

My experiences may have been different. My cured redwood on black walnut was a wenge and fretboard neck thru..... 18 volt haz. All I can say is she is awesome. A very awesome bass. May be a Spector that no one else has experienced. But mine kicks some butt.

any chance you played an Ash bodied one ?

Yes, I had a Forte PJ ash front redwood back. It sounded great but just not quite there compared to the Maple bodies. If I had to put a value on it, I'd say it was 85% of what my NS2 sound wise. If you've got the cash, I still think the solid maple, walnut and mahogany bodies(Bolt on's) are the way to go. Obviously those that play bigger shows and venues might not notice sound wise with the other woods, but as a stay at home enthusiast I can tell right away. I still think the solid maple Euros are the best value in all the spector lines. My Euro4 with EMGXs and the 18v Haz sounds better than any NS2 I've had. I know that sounds like a bold statement, but when you look at construction between a Euro4 or NSCRFM and Kramer era Spectors they are very similar. Granted the brown epoxy EMGs and 9v Haz are a significant difference, but wood wise they are spot on. There was a red one I was about to pull the trigger on reverb, but it was sold when I went to go buy it. There is a green one right now for $1600. I'm tempted to try and snag that one. Over the past 2 years I've been less of a "Collector" and more of a quality 2-3 basses.

Thanks for the reply The Helium on the pics don't have an Ash front but Sycamore.
The closest to full maple wing would be Ash I suppuse (given the density of the wood)... i cant afford the price of full Maple wings and still not sure I can afford an NS6xl.
What's the consensus for spectors between the PauFerro or Ebony board ?

I think poplar burl is your problem.

The current Euros that DON'T have a battery compartment are the Bolts (roasted-neck models).

My serial looks to be NB13.. it's a bit blotched but looks like a 3. Which would place it from 2015/2016 and has a compartment. Was curious when these started.

That's odd. A NB13xx serial should be a 2002 Euro4 (or Euro5).
Or is your serial 5 digits?: NB13xxx.
Your description (NB13..) makes it appear 4.

I've got a beat up 1995 NS4 and it sounds freakin sick!!!

I have family friends in town that own a cabinet making business. They do all the wood cabinets for lots of hospitals and big clients. I'm thinking of talking to them about making mine gloss black.
