Chicago and LA have a ton of common front office personnel moving from LA to Chicago and vice versa. Many people dont realize how identical the front office runs in both cities.

Gotta give kudos to GC, this thing is mint. Not a scratch on her, plastic still on the control cavity. If not for the strings being dead I'd never guess it's been used at all.

Will have some "doppelgänger #1" pics post rehearsal, including the serial # since there still seem to be some skeptics - and I don't blame them. I would be in the same boat if I didn't know exactly where the original bass in question was :)

The serial numbers from you guys will show us how close they might have been built together but the coolest thing would be to put them both together in the same lighting showing similarities....exciting!

This clip is the NS 2P direct with no effects, compression or anything. It was recording using a cheap mbox interface into GarageBand (gasp). I just did a quick improv and there are plenty of flubs/mistakes (please don't focus on those lol).

To me the 2P sounds very similar to my NS 2's but just with more of an open and airy (there's those words again) way. Sounds like a passive NS 2 honestly. As always, headphones or good speakers work best. See what you think:

Amazing how your P Bass still sounds like a Spector. I have GZRs in my Fender P and it sounds like a Fender with really good pickups. The body and necks are relatively the same, same pickups, but your's just sounds mean. Totally killer sounding. Thanks for sharing.

I believe his NS-2P isn't a true P-style bass like the coda, its an NS-2 with 2 reversed GZR (P) pickups, as opposed to the typical P-J layout of the NS-2, so much more Spector than a P. This is if memory serves me correctly, it looked completely amazing.

Don't know if this is normal, the bass is the Spector Legend with the Bubinga wood, EMG HZ pups and HZ preamp. The precision pickup is strong and punchy but the jazz pup is not as strong in fact probably about a 1/3 of the power the precision pup has. Is this normal, or is there possibly something wrong with my jazz pick up or preamp.

I am thinking about dropping in an active EMJ P/J set with a Tonepump pre-amp down the road.

The neck pickup will tend to be a little louder to the ear naturally. I notice this slightly even with my active PJs in my CRFM and EuroLX. First thing I would check is the pickup height. The second thing I would check are the wires coming from the pup to the pots. If all that checks out, you can check the wire at the pickup itself. Although I'm not sure if those will have the easy connect wires or not, I have had issues in the past with them sliding off of the connections.

...you can really raise the bridge PU very high almost until it gets hit by the string, as the amplitude of the string close to the bridge is very small. Then lower the neck PU until it equals out the differences of the PU volume levels.

I'd like to share with you a clip from one of the tracks of the new album. This track has the more "Complex" bass lines and probably took me the longest to dial the tone for and nail the take. It was a doozy indeed.
On the original track there will be a guitar solo at the end so that funky slap part gets a bit buried in the mix unfortunately. I mixed it without the solo and the bass up quite a bit :)

This is the Brooklyn NS-2 which is a beast tuned to drop D :D
Headphones somewhat essential.

Love, love, LOVE the tone. Cool, intricate song. Personally, I think the bass is mixed perfectly but I know you might bring it down some in the final mix. You have a way of getting a great percussive tone without all the clank. Very nice!
