never considered it. I thought the badass was one of the intriguing aspects of that bass.

I don't see anything special about the badass other than it isn't made anymore. 2 reasons I wanted to change it out
1. it won't fit my gauge of string without drilling it out (don't want to do that)
2. I cut my hand on the saddles when I play with a pick at a show.

I was just curious. If all goes according to plan, there might be a JAR in my near future....

I'd like to share with you a clip from one of the tracks of the new album. This track has the more "Complex" bass lines and probably took me the longest to dial the tone for and nail the take. It was a doozy indeed.
On the original track there will be a guitar solo at the end so that funky slap part gets a bit buried in the mix unfortunately. I mixed it without the solo and the bass up quite a bit

This is the Brooklyn NS-2 which is a beast tuned to drop D
Headphones somewhat essential.

Love, love, LOVE the tone. Cool, intricate song. Personally, I think the bass is mixed perfectly but I know you might bring it down some in the final mix. You have a way of getting a great percussive tone without all the clank. Very nice!

Agreed. Your attack is simply perfect on this track. If anyone ask what a Spector sounds like in the wild, I can point them to tracks like this.

Between this and the new Royal Blood album, it's nice to be in the position of really anticipating upcoming releases again. Good stuff, thanks for sharing!

My reluctance with the BA bridge is precisely #2. I play with a pick most of the time, and usually wind up mangling my picking hand by the end of the night. Maybe reluctance is the wrong word. I've had guitars in the past with those screws poking out, and they're irritating. Like a rock in my shoe.

Maybe a layer of electrical tape would remedy that problem.

I know this has been discussed before, but I want to be sure that I can put Gotoh GB7 tuners on my euro? I have the tuners with the hole on the bottom and not at 90 degrees. If there is reaming to be done, please explain what I will need. Thanks folks!

The GB7s will work but the posts are bigger than the stock Schallers. I did that swap on swampy. It's not hard, you just have to take your time and methodically move through. If you want to borrow a reamer, I'm happy to send along mine for you to borrow. It's a good one from StewMac, not like the junky ones that you will find at Lowes or Home Depot. Just PM me when you are ready to go. I definitely recommend that you try out the reamer on some scrap wood first just to get the hang of it. As soon as you start carving into your Euro, there's really no turning back. You're committed! Seriously, it's straight-forward and I'm happy to talk you through it over the phone if you want. I really should have done a how-to video to put on youtube. Maybe next time. Let me know and good luck.

That is awesome...thanks!! I am waiting for Jo Ann at Spector to see if she can find me a black euro 5 bridge with the intonation screws. If somebody has one they want to sell....hit me up cause I really want to do black hardware on my 5LX!

There is nothing happening in the foreseeable future, as I'm trying to pay off my car note, but I definitely have a couple ideas. I know the BA bridge is no longer in production, so having one in the tool box for a future build, ala the Brooklyn days, could come in handy.

I was conversing with PJ Rubal recently about all of the "My Spector Story" and other videos that members had made in the past and if he would be posting them on the new Spectorbass.com website. PJ said...
"those Stories were on a fan site, never on our official site. so sorry I do not have those to post.I am open to ideas like that for the future."

So if you all would like to do something with personal videos with you playing a Spector and/or giving your what brought you to Spector basses, PJ is open to ideas. What do you think?!

For those that are new to our club...back about 3 years ago we were doing just short videos of what & why we play Spector basses, called,"My Spector Story". There were about half a dozen or so club members that did their Spector Story and other Spector artist such as Doug Whimbish and others. These were posted on a Spector fan page for everyone to see. It was fun to do, I did one, LimaGuy did one, Ho, Chris Loe and others I can't recall. Let's throw some ideas together if you're interested and we'll forward them to PJ.

Back in the 80's I had a BC Rich Mockingbird bass with the BadAss bridge and I wore the fingerless leather gloves and the bridge wore/ripped holes in them.
