This may sound really dumb and I know that I'm talking to the wrong crowd. But ever since I got my Rex4Pro, my ReBop with DCs dialed in and the legend 4X up to tip top shap with the 35CS-X's. No matter what song it is, I've got a bass that can handle it. And while the First Firday was just flat out amazing with everyone, I find that for the first time in 6 years I feel satisfied and really love my setup. Sure, I said I before and I'll say it again, If SPALTY came up for sale, it would be a no brainier and I'd sell a kidney and bone marrow to buy if I had too. But I was just wondering if any of you have gone through this feeling? And when will the S.A.S. Return?

I've got 3 Spectors and I love them like no other. But I do have one non Spector. It's a signature series five string............. But the other day this photo of that artist was taken, and he wasn't using his signature line............. So I'm giddy like a school girl hoping that Mr. Rex Brown has converted him during their numerous Hartke clinics........

It would be my next Spector build if they could make Forte Helium with ebony fretless unlined board.
This one sounded fantastic, it had the standard brass bridge on it when I played it but the helium bridge was on its way....basically everything on it was NS2 except for the back tank wood and the bass was very light even with the brass bridge, I had to put it down quickly so I could focus on the Coda P bass but to be honest with you this one came close to going home with me!Yes, I see a variation of this in my future.

I always feel satisfied and right now I have options to play and learn between playing the NS2A, NS2 basses, Coda 4P DLX, and the NS4 fretless...its good to slow down a little but to tell the truth it has me looking at different options like the helium and thinking about a custom build!
Most use the same size as rounds, including me. Once I ordered a set of GHS Precision flats lights, they were okay, more flexible but IMHO you give up some lower tone but gain more grit by going lights. Make sense?
They would most likely be either GHS Precision flats or DAddario flats if they're chromes with multi-colored ball ends. GHS Precision flats lights are purple silk. I have those on my Squire Fender VM PBass V.
I've not tried EBMM or Labella's...been curious about the Labella Jamersons, almost bought a set this weekend but I'm happy with GHS & TIs. Get ready for sticker shock when you look at TIs...normal price are $105+
I found a set in Jan for $84.00. But you'll never wear them out. I save them off a bass I'm selling to put them on my next bass. Until you see something new eye popping HOT!

I really think I'd be quite happy with the tank wood back and helium bridge with either a figured or spalted maple front. Now, do I get the shaved neck, or DW neck; and PF or BEM boards? I need to put in some more playing time with the NS2J and the ForteSS to see what I like the best. Still leaning towards the matte finish though. I have lots of time to figure this out.

Old Fender 9050s were light blue too IIRC, but they've been out of production for awhile and I doubt these are them. I used to use 9050Ms in my four string days.
The LaBella Jamersons are fantastic, I have them on one of my P5s and my Bongo 5H. However, I like heavy, high tension flats.
I tried a set of T-Is a few years ago, and while they sounded amazing I had a hard time coping with the low tension. It would be an expensive experiment if I decided I didn't like them.
Oh, and the SpectorCore - it supposedly comes in the original HSC, which makes it an even better deal at $400.

Just a shout out of thanks to Spector support for helping me determine the correct size replacement tuners for my $100 craigs list made in China Spector.I think many companies would've ignored my email considering there was no sale to be made but they were very helpful, I'm impressed!!! I've ordered a set of Carvin tuners,$35,and once I get them and install them this will really be a great bass.It plays well,is light and comfortable with nice low action and sounds good and I have such a small investment into it that I don't worry about hauling it around instead of my old irreplaceable Kramer 650B or my avatar 5 string that I built around a Carvin neck-thru.

I do like high tension the best as well but the TIs were a "Try once in a lifetime" deal.
You got a great buy on that SpectorCore 5! I believe they normally don't come with a HSC...I looked at buying one a few years back but I didn't have the extra cash to buy a gig bag or HSC as it didn't come with one from factory or dealer.
