I'm actually kind of shocked more people aren't pissed at Warwick for blatantly ripping off the design. I get the history and how it's been put to bed but seems Warwick got to keep the design through luck and loopholes. If that happened today, there would be blood in the water and people would go after Warwick in a big way. I personally don't care either way. I think streamers are equally as sexy and sometimes more so than spectors. However, some of my favorite players have used spectors so there's that. It'll probably be a long time before I could ever afford either.
Warwick didn't copy the design solely to capitalize on the Spector thing and make money, neither company was big enough for that to work. I see it as a case of a new European-based luthier wanting to provide access to his countrymen to a bass he loved that was sort of hard to come by even in America. When said German met the originator there was mutual respect and understanding. Spector clearly got the sense it wasn't theft but flattery.
