I much say one of the main reasons I picked a euro 4 instead of a forte... Was I made it a point to get those inlays on the next Spector I bought when I decided to purchase another Spector lol

Man...I have a Legend 4 & also an Ian Hill sig. And I can tell you for a fact the Ian Hill has the fastest playing neck and by far best player between the two! And hands down will sonically best the Legend! I use same strings on all my SPECTORS too, GHS! I bet Trace can back that up!

You're a man after my own heart Trace! Not only do you have great tastes in basses but know how to camp too! My wife & I like to canoe & camp in the back woods wilderness of Ontario Canada, 100 miles from civilization. Stay safe Bro!

Our camp has a 500 yard range on it. Roger that? :eyebrow:
No electricity, everything is done by hand... fire rings, in-ground latrine, rock dome oven, in-ground roasting pit...
Bring your K-bar, sidearm, M4/AR15 or variant, and MRE's... GPS, DON'T come without it, you won't find your way back.

I filmed the Lauren Hill/Doug Wimbish concert today.

Here are some photos... I'm working on editing the video footage. Doug shared the awesome story of how the neck on his "signature" NS-2 came to be.

Hey! I just thought of something! OK. Next post... I want to ask all of you about your opinion on something that Doug's iconic signature bass... the original... got me thinking about.

But until then... he played with his rarely seen beautiful deep blue USA NS-6XL. He doesn't get to play it much with Living Colour or Tackhead. So he was stoked to have it "fit" the tonal range of this show.

Doug is an awesome guy. A really cool and insanely talented dude. For sure.

OK you SPECTOR-ITES... which 5 basses played by a famous musician would stand out as the most "iconic" SPECTORs in history?

For me it'd be this:

1) Sting's white 1983 NS-2
2) Doug Wimbish's 1987 Kramer NS-2
3) Ian Hill's 1985 Kramer NS-2
4) Nikki Six's SPECTOR-Birds
5) Gene Simmon's SB-1 (the one sold for $30,000)

Those five are probably the "most famous" or "iconic" in my mind. What do you all think?

And of course in time I hope that Alex Webster's new bass will replace Gene's or Nikki's... just because I really like Alex as a person and I'm biased... :-) It's got one sexy paint job... LOL.

Pipe up and answer... I'll take the most popular and post them on the SPECTOR website (and SPECTORCentral). So make your choices wisely! LOL.

Sting - pretty much how I started having Spector GAS. Not so iconic was the bass player from Third World. After seeing them live (he also had a white NS-2) I was determined to find one, but being a college dood, they were waaaay out of my price range, lol.

I think Sting's is easily #1. It's gotten to the point that you can't see a white Spector without thinking "Sting".

Gene's is very recognizable as "Gene's Kiss bass" because it was so altered. But I'm guessing a lot of bassists don't even realize it's a Spector. Same with Nikki's. I know I didn't realize it until many years after I was playing Spectors.

Ian Hill's? Lot's of black NS 4 strings out there (Mike Inez? Eddie Jackson?).
Kinda' the same with Doug's amber NS.

One I've got to throw in is Scott Smith's (Loverboy). His NS may be the first time I saw an (unaltered unlike Gene's) NS Spector and recognized it as something new and really cool looking in the first Loverboy videos. I also thought his tone stood out at the time. I don't believe he ever used anything else (although he did use a Steinberger in the "When It's Over" video) up until his untimely disappearance/death and I really still identify that bass with him.

5. Gene Simmons white NS-2J (I know... :confused: ) but it was iconic to me so I couldn't leave it off the list.

I saw Crowded House many years ago (original lineup), and I saw another Spector. Turns out, I was wrong - it was a Streamer. This was 1991, I think. I was really confused. How could that unique bass shape NOT be a Spector. Wasn't until the last couple of years when I found out about the whole NS licensing thing...

I'm pretty sure that was a red NS2 in the 80's video "Something So Strong" from those guys.

He's not playing it here, but that looks like it in the stand behind him. Maybe?
