Spector Club - Part 12

See, I would like to do something like this (ie, two MM pups, probably Bartolinis though, to try something different):

to a Legend 5 Classic.

Idealy the finish would be any one of these three:

Bubinga:

Natural Alder:

Amber on flame? flanged? maple top (middle bass)

I would put in a three way toggle for each pickup allowing me to select either one of the coils or both, allowing for a simple and complete selection of coil combinations.

Oh the dreeeeeeams...

Doug is in the area (Los Angeles)... he's performing with Lauren Hill (Fugees) tomorrow night at the LA Colosseum.

I'm supposed to interview him tonight after their rehearsal. Fingers are crossed it works out.

If I don't get cancelled, because I told him if he's tired he should rest and we can do the interview the next time he's in town, then I'll post some pictures for everyone tomorrow.

He's going to have the ORIGINAL Doug Wimbish NS-2... the one that all others were made from. I'm so stoked to get to see this bass in person. And he wants to see The Black Pearl. So I hope it works out!

Niceeee!!!! I am getting the feeling we are going to see Doug Wimbish playing a "2nd" Black Pearl soon....

Remember when he is seen playing it all over in 6 months... It is the NS-2 "PS" model... Don't let them call it the Doug Wimbish 2 model.

THAT is sooo awesome JPS! Doug is wholly responsible for me turning to SPECTOR. His bass is the first SPECTOR bass I heard. I'll be very interested in hearing his interview and I hope that he plays the "Black Pearl"! Knock em out JPS!!!

Amber on flame! but that could be a lot of fun on a very inexpensive bass!

Hmm, I tried searching Facebook for "Biscuit Bass" but only found a page called Biscuit's close friends. He looks to be the admin of that group and his name seems to be "Biscuitand Bass." I feel a bit odd adding him as a friend though since I am just some bald dude from NJ who stinks at bass Hey, we are both bald though and have Spector basses in common

The NS-2B's are the uncurved version of the NS-2A's.
Unless I am missing something on the "rare-ness" factor. Dont pay over $300 tops on this.

Dougs Spector ns2 is my favorite spector! The black pearl is a close second I was told by a collector that there were three ns2 made from the quilted maple billet that Dougs came from! One was red and was sent to the guy from Nelson. He recieved it, and Kramer asked him to send it back so they could do a photo shoot. Well he never got it back! The collector said this ns2 is still MIA after all these years.

I like the 1st one. It seems to already have a fretless vibe.

I agree with Mr.Bassie on this. It's almost like you are starting to get that "mwah" sound already so converting that bass to a fretless sounds better to me out of the two. My opinion of course

Hey Sam! I think I like the overall sound of number 1 better. But not sure if that means it'll sound better as a fretless.

You know? But of those two tracks. I liked the tone in number 1 the best. Rock or... walk on!

This is why I changed my mind and want to de-fret the ReBop instead of the NS-2A.

I was thinking #2 was the NS-2A amberburst because of the growl that kept coming out. My ReBop never sounded that smooth...but mine was a fiver and I was trying for a harder/punchier sound.
