I didn't even want to post on the same page as Patrick. I think I'm suffering from Spector envy. My humbe offering is an early. NS4CRFM. It does have the double S logo, but dots instead of crowns. Not a fan of gold hardware and the natural gloss color was very bland. Not too much flame, so some changes were made. VW paint and chrome saddled black oxide bridge. I know I lowered the value by not leaving it stock, but I like it.

Seriously, I do prefer the gold hardware, but with that avacodo color the black with the chrome works so well. Perfect.

I know you posted this a while back. I can't remember, are the tuners black or chrome?

:) Good one! You know, like you,I am a fan of these early Czech basses.
I love the solid brass bridge as opposed to the brass alloy that came later. Talk about bang for the buck. Amazing build quality. Although I have to say that the build quality is fantastic on the new Euros as well. Tuners are black, of course. Although chrome would have been cool, cause the face of the headstock is black. Had to do a little research on those. They used a different type of M4 Schaller back then. The small screw faces in. Some M4s the screw faces down towards the body. I love seeing some of the basses that have been posted lately. You dont see too many refins on Spectors because they are usually finished so beautifully. Most of the refins I have seen were done because something happened to the original finish, like in Traces case.

He's had that listed a couple of times with the bids coming no where close to his asking price.

An all Alder body is not an advantage in my opinion. I believe the Alder backs of the LX series is why I don't feel they respond as well as the older, all Maple winged Czech Spectors.

Plus, now that Spector is doing Maple boards, and it's probably only a matter of time before they're available on the Czechs, I don't think that feature will get him close to his price either. If he gets $1400 he probably should take it.

I am still debating which bass I will get de-freted.

I made these 2 recording of me playing a walking bass line with the 2 canidates which shall remain anonymous for the moment. (both Spectors ofcourse)

Which bass do you think will sound better as a fretless?

I like the 1st one. It seems to already have a fretless vibe.

You say humble, I say wicked. This is a nice custom job that just makes me drool. Every detail is very well thought out. Kudos to you, sir! :)

Thank you all for the kind words. You guys have some incredible looking and, I am sure, sounding, basses. I am trying to practice a little more and Talkbass a little less. The Spector club is directly where I come when I log on. Best place on Talkbass.:bassist:
