If you're digging those flats try some GHS Precision SS FW! I've used both and the GHS will get you a bigger smoother sound.

The funny thing is, the one song you have recorded without the Spector is the only one where the bass doesn't seem to be cutting through as much. The bass can be heard but it's not as prominent as it is in all of the other tracks. I really like your tone on "Message in a bottle" a lot.

Hey, does anyone know what the "JJ" stands for on the bottom of the EMG DC40 soapbars on the older Euro 5's? I don't find them listed on the EMG site Just the DC40J which I believe is different.

I actually prefer that to the Poplar Burl stuff. Someone ruined the Burl finish for me when they referred to it as "bird poop" ...Smh haha

Well, I love the sound of Fat Beams on my Legend, but I'm sort of considering getting one of the "Gee I wish I was Pino" Fiesta Red Squier CVs. And I might put flats on that and chase Pino's sound a bit.

The preamp in my Spector just gives me too much beautiful mids and growl to take of the Fat Beams.

Thanks! I bought it a bunch of years ago, and it had a few scars on it already. I discovered the wings were Birch when I removed the bridge to clean all of the old beer from the rout (I had to stick a screwdriver in one of the holes and pry it off of the body, even after the screws were all out!) penciled underneath was "birch clear."

I have a lot of basses, but when it is time to record, a '74 P-bass and this NS-2 are all I ever use.

I didn't even want to post on the same page as Patrick. I think I'm suffering from Spector envy. My humbe offering is an early. NS4CRFM. It does have the double S logo, but dots instead of crowns. Not a fan of gold hardware and the natural gloss color was very bland. Not too much flame, so some changes were made. VW paint and chrome saddled black oxide bridge. I know I lowered the value by not leaving it stock, but I like it.

I love it! Those Czech Spectors are really nice, and you will never see another one that color!

Thanks! With two guitars on top, I was a little worried, but it came out ok. I can't provide the entire song due to copyright, but our version starts out with just piano and vocals for the first two verses.

Personally, I think the bass tone on the non-Spector song really fits the song. My personal opinion, of course.

I love this one. It's actually more valuable in my opinion. You've done a very tasteful job modifying this bass and turning it into something unique. It's one-of-a-kind.

I don't think you devalued it at all. It's killer!
