BTW, what you have there is a ReBop4 DLX. The ReBop4 (non-DLX) has the dot inlays on the fretboard instead of the crowns. Calling your bass a Euro ReBop is like calling a Fender bass a Precision Jazz.

Did I miss something? That looks like your Rex5 with the white EMG pups? Did you sell it? Or did he build one just like it? Or did you take the "Good friends don't let friends play music without SPECTOR" approach?

Interesting. There's a whole tread about Gene and his bass playing floating around here on TB somewhere.
I don't necessarily care for Gene because of the way he did Stuart... which was when he got really into merchandising he wanted SPECTOR to pay him to play their guitars. Which Stuart has never done, will never do. So he did what he is known for doing and he went with the company offering him the most cash.
My request for a listing from the members of this board has NOTHING to do with the bassists as LIMA pointed out. IT"S the bass itself.
And like him or not, for almost 40 years the dude has performed in front of tens of millions of fans. He's about as high-profile as they come during his heyday. And he played numerous SPECTORs at that time. He's also the guy that holds the record for the most $$$ ever made from the sale of a used SPECTOR with $30,000 for one of his SB-1 models.
That bass is legendary if for nothing other than that.
Honestly very few can compare to Doug. Doug is a genius and a virtuoso musician. He can play two melodies at the same time between his thumb and fingers... he blows my mind with his skills. But that wasn't the question. It was which of these BASSES are famous in their own right.
I wouldn't say that. They're unoriginal and uninspired. But actually pretty much every one I've ever held has been made very well. I never knock those guys for their construction quality or their materials.
I just wish they'd stop ripping off other people's designs and then acting like they've done something special or original in doing so.
A clone is a clone. Fender, Spector, Steinberger, Status, BC-Rich, Gibson... and the list of borrowed designs goes on.
Who was this directed to? Just curious... I was trying to look back and see who was unsure if they wanted a WW or SPECTOR... I can't remember when this was.
In all fairness to both, the lower-end $100-$200 Ibanez basses are disposable. But even then they usually have decent - fast necks.
I'd say it was fair to compare the high-end Ibanez basses to the lower-end WW... But overall to be completely objective, the high-end hand-made WW stuff is way better than any Ibanez I've ever seen. And frankly for a beginner or someone who plays guitar but wants a bass laying around for the fun of it... Ibanez is a good bass for the dollar. I used to own one and really it wasn't a bad bass at all for a knock-around.
I think overall you can't really compare an Ibanez to anything from SPECTOR except perhaps the entry-level Performer basses.
And the high-end Warwicks are well made and are made of solid-good materials. They just lack originality and in some cases a distinctively dynamic tone to set them apart from basses you can get for less.
And that's to say, "If you're not playing a SPECTOR, you're just not playing."

Yeah they actually ended their sponsorship of him for his drug-store cowboy stunt. And looks like he's going to prison for a long time.
Sad... but he did a lot to promote his SPECTOR Endorsement. But Stuart and PJ just don't like being affiliated with people who do violent drug-related felonious activities.
Not the way they want to be associated with musicians. LOL.

1) He's a great bassist.

Chris is the only guy rocking a Silverburst SPECTOR... (Todd Cooke has the other silverburst Spectors in existence but I don't think he ever performs with them so that doesn't count in my opinion).

Actually now that I think about it, I think this stems from many years ago I did a recording session with a guy who was recording covers of Yes songs. And it just kept going and going with him wanting every note identical to their version....now you can imagine how that went.
Yeah it's always sad when a brother/sister musician succumbs to drugs/alcohol and they let it destroy their lives. You want to remember people for their music, not their mistakes.
I'm not sure about the status of what he was playing before or whatever. I know he's always been on the SPECTOR site as a ReBop artist.
I removed him a day or so after he was arrested per Stuart's request. Want to stay on Stuart's good side... don't break the law! He's very integrity-based that way.

I do love how the Rex is like a tank and is actually very comfortable to play but I can't get over how much I love that euro!
The silverbust fades to black PERFECTLY! I can not say enough how happy I was when I saw the finish. Not to mention the bass plays and sounds so good.
I picked up my modulus the other day, since it was the only I had at the house.. Plugged in.. And the feel and tone is just not there... I feel like I'm jaded lol

LOL! Dude I'm only teasing. Actually there are some Yes songs I like, some I don't. But they're not a cornerstone band for me... I do like Billy Sherwood's work on the Union album and after. And after meeting Billy, he's a great guy and an awesome musician. So I can say perhaps a more a fan of his than Yes per-se.
And taste is a subjective thing. There are some kiss songs that I really like. And some I can't stand. Same thing with Rush, same thing with Pink Floyd... Zeppelin is one of the few bands that I enjoy around 80% - 90% of their total catalog. I'm not a huge fan of a lot of the Beatles stuff. But there are some songs that I love.
It's all about what you like and don't like and it's all good. I know you're a huge Kiss fan, and so is my older brother. And it's fighting words for him if you disrespect Kiss. LOL. So I do it just to mess with him sometimes.

You know... after spending the weekend around Doug Wimbish I have to say that you will need to keep that attitude to get to where you want and then to stay there.
Doug has amazing energy... meaning he keeps a crazy pace. Always meeting new people, looking for new ways to be musical. Always stretching himself and working to have the opportunity to play for new crowds to further expand his name and following.
He never slows down or stops.
So you DO keep pushing and you'll make it. That's always the key. Never give up.

Rex5 was on set... My euro was in the trailer with the rest of the band gear.. I still have one back in Hawaii (just in case) lol

Do it Chris sell and get another Spector. I sold my Axe and I even sold my Pedulla which i had for 23 years to get me another Spector.
In my opinion there is no reason to ever own anything else...except that I do still own a custom bass that was made for me in 1989. The only reason why I am keeping it is because it cost my mom $2K in 1989 and now if I went to sell it; I probably couldnt get more then $400 if I was lucky. (and nobody wants a bass with my name engraved in the 12th fret inlay. lol) dreaming.... If it only could be sold for what it was really worth...ah Spector #7
