Spector Club - Part 14

This is from Bass Central's USA Spector page at the bottom, I think a custom order for someone, USA NS-2X

Last Spring I came sooo close to buying a Rex HoloFlash...only thing that stopped me was getting a case...Couldn't afford buying a special made case at the time. I really like that X body shape but they're don't have the body curve, do they?

But i hear they're really neck heavy, worse than the reBop 5 DLX. :eyebrow:

Ok, so I found these 3 versions of a thunderbird body...
No disrespect to anyone that owns/likes the body... I'm not a fan of this body shape. So I was not familiar with the "Legend 4X" as I only recognize this body style as the Rex Brown... So I thought the X in "Legend 4X" was a typo for "C" (next key over) which would be the Classic - like mine...

Separately they all look the same to me.... except now that I see all 3 at the same time there are some minor differences...

I love the X body style the Rex/Rox seems more practical but I don't like how it looks as much.

Actually, the Rex and the Rox are the same bass. One of the on-line retailers has been calling it a "Rox" for quite a while and I think thats where this has crept in.

The X is simply a normal Thunderbird shape.

I believe they started calling the Rex bass the "Rox" when Rex Brown switched over to ESP for a brief period of time if I am not mistaken. Also, the "x" body style is a bolt-on but the Rex/Rox is a neck-thru on the professional line. Now in the USA models, they are all neck-thru I believe.

I thought that too.. About the name change... However the x and Rex are different shapes.. Neck thru on the Rex and bolt for the x is correct

I started using the euro as my main bass. It's a dream to play. However I like writing with the Rex. I play differently when I use the Rex... If that makes sense? I think if you've never used a tbird style bass... There's a bot of a learning curve because there's a slit neck dive.

I do think the bass i'll use live is a euro from here on out though.

I've never actually played a tbird style bass, but my 5 string squire had really bad neck dive...... I wish I could find one locally just to try it out.. and as far as playing differently on different basses, I totally get that..

Correct on the X. Neck thru in the USA (Forte) series. Bolt on in the imports.

I too thought I had heard of the name switch due to a Rex Brown departure, but thought it might have been just rumor when I saw he was still with Spector.

I was at my local shop yesterday who is a Spector dealer and a guy was looking at buying a Spector Legend but was worried about neck dive because he had played the Rex 5 and it was neck heavy.
