Spector Club - Part 14

Ok. So, I'm all but ready to go with a Forte 4. Emailed Ed at BC to pay a down payment, then I got to thinking about the USA Bolt ons, and saw this:

Spector NS-4H2-FM USA 4 Bass Royal Blue Black Hardware | eBay They have an option for Golden and Walnut stain.

There is no image, but here's one in natural oil finish:

The Forte has the Aguilar OBP-2, the NS4H2 has the Spector 9V. Anyone have any idea what a USA bolt on might weigh? The description says gold plated hardware, yet in the photo the hardware is black. Anyone know whether it is indeed gold hardware?

The Forte and the NS4H2 both won't be ready until December...

I'm so torn now...Arhg!!!

So today I went to the Summerlin Guitar center, here in Vegas. I wanted to play through a couple of things, Markbass and an SVT, and wanted to play my NS-4 through both.

First, I pull it out of the SPECTOR case, a salesman about 15 feet away says "WOW!! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL WARWICK!!" :spit: Okay, I let it pass, give him my best "I will stab you in the neck" look and say, actually it is a Spector. He says "oh, cool". Indeed.

Second, I play through the amps, I come to the conclusion I could play this bass through a old record player and it would sound good. I then put it away, and the manager comes up and says "that might be the most beautiful bass we have ever had in this store" I say thank you, he starts pointing out little things like the color of the wood, the inlays, the craftsmanship that went into it and says "You really have to appreciate his work". I say yes, You do. He says "I was worried there for a while that he was going to have to start building them out of the wood shop at the prison until he got off". I say "WHAT?" Hey says "Phil Spector, when he was up for murder, I thought he was going to have to set up his bass shop in the prison." And I'm out. :rollno: :scowl:

Same in Columbus...they never approach anyone in the base department. :nono: AND that Dept. is soooo tiny! :scowl: atleast at Samash the salesmen come up to you to ask if they can help you. And their base section is 4X larger.

The tone of the Aguilar OB2 is one of the things that sold me on the Forte 4. The Tonepump is the only option you can order on the Forte also.

Both would be awesome. If it is the tone circuit you are torn about, you can order the Forte with the Hazlab.

From the website:
"The SPECTOR® USA 9-volt Tone Circuit™ is the only option with Forte Models."

Yeah, they were all incredibly helpful and were great in helping my parents set up the payment system.

I do have two poorly mixed songs that I did at camp. Here's a link to the first album. Week 2 is right on the page also. I'm Mike, so just check those two. And if you have headphones, I recommend those over computer speakers, since I played most of the second song on the B and E strings, so it's pretty damn low.

If you all want, I could record myself running through some different riffs? I would have to do it at home, which would take a few hours. (Because I'm tooooootally not posting at school).

And as for the f**k-ups... it was my first time playing live. So my strings were coated in sweat. Still... :bassist:

We have a "bass room" at my local GC also. BUT, it's awesome, because there's some soundproofing applied so that we don't have to deal with the douche-y teenagers who just discovered Pantera or are butchering Master yet again.

The guy who owns our location is actually a bass player most of the time, so we always have a good selection of pedals, amps, and basses. Some of the patrons are petitioning to get them to sell Spectors. It worked with getting them to stock ESPs, so here's hoping!
