Mesa's other larger watt amps sound good in videos and get a lot of praise from the 400+ users who have both. These would be the Titan (discontinued I believe), Carbine 9, Carbine 6, and Big Block 750.

The Bass 400+ will always be my fav. However, I do understand the concern for your back.
I would give the M6 Carbine a listen. Gobs of volume and a little easier on the back. I own one and I believe will stay in the stable for a long time (unless Mesa comes out with a Walkabout 600...). :D
Trace Eliott is another fav of mine. I used an AH1200 sm for years. If it weren't so dang heavy, I would probably still have it.
I just purchased a GB Streamliner and the jury is still out on this one. I think I have the wrong cabs for it.
I have heard real good things about the Aguilar Tonehammer. Good luck and have fun trying them out.

Ampeg all the way baby!!! It really brings out the smoothness and that epic SPECTOR growl! I've used Marshal in the past, but when I tried my first Ampeg rig B-15T Portaflex, bye bye Marshal!! I use Ampeg PR-410HLF with Ampeg PF-500 head as my main gigging rig. I might be buying an Ampeg 810 in the near future. Ampeg delivers & they keep on delivering bro!

So far I've only played mine trough my GK rig, and I really loved the sound I was getting. Of course, my bass is a bolt on legend, so there would e some differences, but I think I got a pretty good version of the 'Spector sound' out of it.

My Euro5LX sounds amazing through the Genz Benz Shuttle 9 and my Bergantino NV215. Big lows with the Berg and the Shuttle can get the mids cranking with the parametric EQ.

Though lately I've been wondering how my 5LX would sound through one the these fEARful cabs

Try 2 Ampeg410's, lighter to move and if you don't need both at a gig then you can take half the weight with ya. My PR410HLF is a monster, built and weighs like a tank @ 128#! If I'd looked at the 810 weight its lighter.

+1 for sure! I thought my Ampeg B-15T was great for small-medium gigs until a guitar player brought his Marshal 412! :eek::mad: So the gloves came off & it was on!:atoz: Thus the PR-410HLF W/PF-500, lol, guess who won... :O :ninja: SPECTOR/Ampeg 1, Marshal guitarist 0!

At band practice, I had to push it a bit more, but it still sounded ok. When it came to how it sounded in a live setting with a band, it just didn't carry like I thought and hoped it would.

With the Mesa stuff, I was able to get a good home sound out of it too. Live, it killed. It was awesome. Point is, is it is much easier to get a good sound at home or in a store, but it's another thing all together playing live.

I'd say it's an early Kramer Euro W/headstock Dbl S worn or taken off & some mods. A NS-94 wouldn't have Mop inlays.

I really like my Spectors through my GK 1001 RB II and Epifani PS410. I think the clear but growly GK tone matches up nicely with that Spector growl. I also like the tight focus of 10's with my Spector. I did not like the same setup with a PS210 and PS115 nearly as much. I have used a Mesa Walkabout or the 1001 RB II into 2 GK NEO 112 II's for some shows and thought it sounded pretty good too.

No pictures yet......I did however just swap the preamp on my NS-2000/4 and the pickups to EMG 35DCs. This is a direct clip with no compression or eq on the bass. I'm really happy with the tone of it! I used it at church this last weekend through a Nemesis 4X10 combo (our building was destroyed during a hurricane, so we meet at a huge movie theater. We play really LOUD as well) and it sounded huge and awesome!!!!!!

Hope you guys like the clip. I'll try to get another clip of it through my Axe Fx and Sansamp soon. Again this is just the direct tone straight into Cubase.

Wow, lots of good suggestions for amps, thanks guys.

I am leaning towards wanting to hear the Mesa stuff, Have had Eden stuff and Ampeg stuff before, sounded pretty good, but some of the quality control issues with both scare me a bit. Wish there was a store in Vegas that carried the Mesa stuff.

Also, this interests me, anyone have any experience with EBS Stuff?

Wow, that's a cool amp...my concern is whether or not 100 tube watts is enough. Or at least enough and still give you some clean headroom. There's bound to be a thread on that amp around...might be worth checking out.

Hopefully, Friday we will finally get a good recording from the board. If we do, I'll see if I can send you some files so you can see what you think about Mesa. I mic my cab with a Audix D6 on the 15 and and Audix i5 on one of the 10s.

I have not heard that amp head. I've heard the HD350. Very clean sounding amp.

The tube amp at 37lbs. Not too bad, I guess. lol
