It's not a significant difference IMO. But you can tell a difference between the 2. You actually feel it as well as hear it, the bass resonates more clearly and has slightly better sustain ( before decay) with the zinc brass piece. Would I buy it again? For appearance yes. For the tone enhancement? I'm 50/50.

The wine colored one has the thicker neck. The brown has the thinner.

I play the wine colored one more but prefer the thinner neck for comfort, though not a huge difference. Contemplated swapping necks, but would need to sand down the wine on the base of the neck and refinish it as Black so it wouldn't look odd. Likely not worth it for the small difference.

Happy with them as-is, just odd that there's a difference. Likely a shaved neck.

My NS5CR had a much thicker and (more comfortable) neck than any other 5 string spector have played . I don't know why, but wish we could figure it out. Mine was slightly asymmetrical also (thinner on the treble side). Different than the others I have had or played. I miss that one.

Thanks for the concern everyone, it would really hurt bad to sell a Spector to pay a bill. :bawl:

I think I am safe for now. :hiding:

My wife finally worked out a deal with the electric company.
All of a sudden this month, they were denying the continuing of the payment agreement I have with them.

They kept saying that, this is 2 years in a row I owed money and they are worried about next year. :confused: :rollno: :

Just alot of un-needed stress. :mad:

I need to start playing the lottery, maybe if I go to the store with my Spector, it will bring me luck. :)

Since the serial #'s are so close, I would think that the Brown Colored one was shaved down. But then you would feel a difference in the finish on the neck?

Maybe you can email PJ and see if there is any knowledge of the neck profile changing on the ReBops.

Yes, there is a slight tonal difference. And perhaps I'd agree that the sustain is slightly different... brass being heavier and therefore less prone to frequency or vibration loss.

As for appearance. I have to say that my beef with the brass/zinc and solid brass SPECTOR bridges is that being prone to resting part of my palm on the upper corner, I wear through the finishes. So to date, the black aluminum version of the Euro bridge (the USA black bridge I've never owned) is better for me because of purely cosmetic reasons.

And the USA Solid brass bridge is much less prone to wear than the Euro bridge. But it will wear eventually.

I look at the brass wearing as a badge of honor, and that that bass is spending some times in your hands, where it belongs. I preface that to say an instrument should be played, not displayed. That holds true even if I had a USA NS2. That said, I prefer the look of the brass-it just looks classier.

Good luck Sam, the last thing you need is stress man (Like someone stalking you to do a Spector story :hiding: - I'm working on it...)

I know it's hard to have some patience man, (easier said than done, I know I already am trying to set up my next one...). There is NO WAY I could have gotten my American on my own. My wife started saving little by little starting before I got sick last Thanksgiving. Even when I was out of work and we were cutting back on things, she saved every penny she could to get me an American for my 40th birthday. I think that is what makes it even that much more special to me, the fact that she cut back on things for me to get one for me. I am a very lucky man, she is awesome.

you'll get one one day man. Maybe we should all pool some money together and buy a bunch of Powerball tickets, then if we win, American's for everyone!

Okay guys, in your opinions, what are the amps I have to hear my Spector through before I decide to get one?

I know what I have in mind, what I would like, but I am interested to hear what kind of amps you guys think our Spector's sound the best through....

A match made in heaven. Its almost like the mid selector was designed around a spector imo. Sounds crazy good.
