Spector Club - Part 14

Maybe someone can give thoughts on this...

I have two used rebops. Both have the stock neck and headstock inlays. Both have been refinished, but one has a noticably slimmer neck than the other. One is more P-bass like, and the other more jazz like. D vs C shape. The D shape still isn't baseball bat like, but it is thicker than the other.

Anyone notice difference in Rebop neck profiles?

Photo of the two in question.

Is it possible that one of them was shaved down some when it was re-finished?

Are the serial #'s close in range on your basses?

Definitely possible.

Rebop NB4697 - Tonepump and 2x EMG 40P5's (8lbs) - Wine Colored
Rebop NB5320 - SDG 2band, EMG 40DC's (7.5lbs) - Brown Colored

The wine colored one has the thicker neck. The brown has the thinner.

I play the wine colored one more but prefer the thinner neck for comfort, though not a huge difference. Contemplated swapping necks, but would need to sand down the wine on the base of the neck and refinish it as Black so it wouldn't look odd. Likely not worth it for the small difference.

Happy with them as-is, just odd that there's a difference. Likely a shaved neck.

Oh my :o All these amazing descriptions of the USA models is making me think bad things. :ninja:
"Like selling off most of my bunch for a USA model" :hiding:
I'm beginning to think the same thing Sam!:eyebrow: And start from scratch! I'll try a USA SPECTOR 1st though...I believe ya all but I did live in Missouri long enough...ya know..."The show me state." :D
I had a Euro 5LX and I own the Forte 4. A whole new world to me in feel.Even my wife picked it up, held it and said "Wow, it just feels amazing" (yes that's what she said...:D) Mind you that my US has the Aguilar pre, not the original Spector circuit, that's why I am after an NS-2. :D

NOW I'm really getting the...USA SPECTOR FEVER!!!! :help:
If there's a sudden onslaught of used SPECTOR's on the market you'll know my friends...you'll know.:rollno::bassist:

7 is an unlucky #. I'll help you out though, PMing you my address so you can send me one of those. No, don't worry about, it's my good deed for the year. No, really, the pleasure is all mine. :) (oh, but you can keep the 6 string geetar... that's bad luck for ME!)

Forget my dreams of a USA Spector.

I guess Relayer71 is correct, 7 really is an unlucky number.

I guess the bad karma has just arrived.

All within a few hours of seeing this post.

Suddenly the bank holding my car loan and the electric company are being very hard azz'd on the payments they want this month.

So I may be offering some Spectors for sale very soon.

Patrick: Yes, I was wondering if the difference in metals made a significant difference in the sound. I know, I'm opening a can of worms here because tonal differences can be very subjective. On the flip side, does someone like the gold (Euro) vs. black (ReBop) simply for appearance?

More appearance than for tone for me. But the tone enhancement was definatly welcome.

Damn, that really sucks Sam and I hope you don't have to do that.

They are both beautiful but the one on the left is really sweet. Is that the quilt one?
