For me I think the chrome only looks good with certain finishes. I know I thought chrome hardware looked cheapo on Spectors lowest priced models.

Please! That would be very nice and much appreciated. I was given (or I gave myself) the impression that the new euro bridge would have slightly different dimensions than my old CRFM one. Perhaps not. That would be very sweet.
If I wind up getting someone to plate my bridge, this is the color scheme I had in mind. We all have our individual asthetic preferences. I have always disliked the gold hardware on Spectors. I tolerate it because of the great sound of the bass.
If you want to know, because I'm not sure myself...
Take your NS-CRFM bridge off and measure the bottom of it.
If you have a 4-string: the current Euro Bridge Measures: 4.00" W, 1.95" L
If you have a 5-string: the current Euro Bridge Measures: 4.40" W, 1.95" L
I would imagine that they are the same, but I can't be sure. Stranger things have happened over the years.

One more for the club... '05 Legend 5 Classic. I get the sense that the Asian imports are not very highly regarded here, but it's a great backup fiver for 3-bills, and it's my first Spector. ***edit - Doh! Got PJ's input, and it looks like it's a Q5 Pro model, though previous owner had listed as Legend Classic. Used it for Sunday services this past week, and it looks like it's up again this week. Starting to wonder whether my other basses will ever feel the same again... : )
A couple of questions... Has anybody tried pulling the preamp out of one of these and just running it passive (it has the EMG-Hz pups)? I'm thinking about trying it, and may try out an OBP-1 that I have lying around...
Regarding the stock preamp - does anyone have any info on the dip switch settings? It appears to be changing crossover points or something, but it's rather subtle. Trying to get my bearings, here...

I know. It's weird.
I prefer the Gold 99% of the time,
but that Chrome on the White NS4 just works for me.
Sting's Brooklyn NS-2 has the silver Leo Quan bridge and Schaller tuners. And I totally prefer that color scheme.
I don't wear gold. My watch is stainless steel... the two that I own... my wedding band is Tungsten (which is more like a pewter color, but not gold more silver). I don't usually care for yellow gold/brass stuff.
My wife picks at me for wanting a "Milk-o-licious" guitar. She says that white Spectors with gold bridges and tuners look like the guitar that guy "White Gold" on the milk commercials plays. LOL.
I totally feel the silver/chrome color scheme on Spectors. But also have to admit that on the Birdseye Maple and the neck-thru models where the maple is natural finished, the gold looks awesome. Those woods when finished have a yellowish tint. So the brass/gold matches them really well.
Yeah, we have a tendency to elevate the Euro and USA models here, but I can tell you that I for one, NEVER look down my nose at anyone playing an Asian Spector. My first NS was (and still is) my Korean NS-2A. I LOVE that bass. I'll never get rid of it. I'd sell one of my Euro models before letting it go.
I can't speak for everyone here, but personally I think the Asian models are incredible instruments and when you put them up against other basses in the same price range they shine.
So congrats. Legends are great basses!
I say go for it. The Kroeger Signature Legend Custom (MK-5) which is the only Legend Custom still in production, is all passive. I appreciate the active/active and passive/active setups... but I watched SPECTOR Artist Andy Irvine wail on a new Performer by Spector at NAMM and it sounded wicked-great. And it's all passive.
I'd send an email to [email protected] and see if they can give you any technical info, like a diagram sheet. I'm not really sure what those dip switches are about. So the best source would be the guys at the NY Workshop or PJ Rubal.

When I aquired my Legend 6 in a trade (figured it would tide me over until a Euro or USA 6 deal came along), I was stunned to see that it had twin truss rods.
The Spector site (old one) made no mention of this (and still doesn't
/ calling JPS). Nor whether they're in a parallel or "V" configuration (important for setup).
My question is to the Legend 5 owners:
Does your bass have a single or dual truss rod setup?

The Legends are well liked here friend! My first Spector is a Legend 4 Classic. Since then I've bought 2 other models of Spectors. One being another Korean model Kramer NS-2A...AWESOME and so far my most favorite Spector! Plays like smooth butter! And I still own my Legend 4! My first started the "Spector Fever".

Here are few more numbers I came up with.
Spector NS-CRFM 5-string : 4.417" W, 1.930" L, 1.5lbs.
Spector Euro (zinc-brass alloy) 5-string: 4.388" W, 1.990" L, 1lbs.
SSD era NS-5: 4.410" W, 2.000 L, 1.5lbs.
The only major issue I see with swapping out a CRFM bridge with a current Euro is that you will need to relocate the mounting holes in the body as the Euro bridge holes are set back slightly.
Did a little playing around with the setup on my Rebop 5.
Got it as low as a touch under 1/16th without buzz.

Hey man, no problems with the Koreans! I own two, a Legend Classic 4 Bubinga and an NS 2000/5 Amberburst. I used to own a Legend Custom 5 Amberburst and regret selling it.
I do also own a Euro 5LX and while the differences in quality and sound are obvious, I still prefer the Legends in most settings.
Something about the neck and feel of the Legends that just sits right with me.
Im also planning on getting another Korean, the NS 2JA-R. As well as a Legend X sometime in the future So dont worry about the Koreans dude. Theyre all fine by us!
We may not talk about them much, but for a lot of us theyre our number one go to workhorses.

Im seriously starting to consider and plan out my next bass, an NS 5H2-FM.
Besides aesthetics, and neck stuff, my main concern is the pickups.
Im thinking about a MM pup at the bridge and a humbucker at the neck. Ideally I would like them both to be coil tap-able. I know the EMGs TWs are, BUT because of the volume drop, I really cant see myself getting them. Now, I know Bartolini has equivalent pickups in the same sized housings. However, I dont know much about them.
I would prefer passive pups, but still be tap-able. Is this possible with Bartolini? Which models would those be? Has anyone ever been able to A/B a Bart loaded Spector next to an EMG loaded one?
I know Ive asked about the sound before, but if anyone has any more details about Barts beyond what Ive gotten off their site that would be great..

Speaking of Korean Spectors, the old Q Pro basses are nice. Those have the flat tops and backs, with a bolt-on slim neck.
