double agent...your convincing me!....i almost bought a newer one 4 string with f-holes and a nice stain finish for 275.00...i think ill keep my eyes open ...thanks for the info double agent!

Im not entirely sure..

I have a Classic 4, and it has a 2 band boost/cut EQ in it, now it seems that all classics have the tone pump jr. It also has P/Js, and now I believe they only have soapbars.

I also have a Custom 5, which has the 2 band EQ in it as well, though now they come with the EMG B30.

Almost afraid to post any more new announcements from Spector but here goes.....

I know a lot of you have been asking for different string spacing on the 5 & 6 string basses. One of the new things being introduced at Winter NAMM this year is going to be a USA bolt-on 5 string with the following specs:

width at string nut: 1.9"
width at 12th fret 2.621"

spacing at bridge: .75"
string spacing at nut:
B - E : .410
E - A : .400
A - D : .386
D - G : .365

They thought that they would see how this goes and if it is successful they will go from there. Hopefully this has put a smile back on some of your faces.:D

I played a stock NS2A all thru college and got by fine with it. But is was the 80's, so bass was kind of an afterthought with some of that music.:smug:

Now, my tastes have changes (or maybe just gotten more expensive...):p

Stu would already have my money for a Forte 4 if it came in something other than transparent black. Then again, some of the refinishes I've seen here have me thinking.

Can you get them fretless?

If they do an NS style 6 with .75" spacing, I'm all over it.

That bass is one of the first legends. I have the same bass but with a quilt top. They were bolt ons with EMG HZs and a 3 band pre. The 4 string was a P-J setup and the 5 was J-H

A few months ago I found the bass I was looking for in a CRFM 5.

Anyway I absolutely love the bass but I miss some of the aggressiveness of my 4CRFM. I have been thinking about changing out the pickups.

I am thinking about putting in the EMG-40P5 (neck) and the EMG-40J (bridge of course).

In regards to the 40J, it is just a single bar mag but it is offset to the bridge side of the pickup housing. What I am wondering is will this place the mag in the same relationship as the 4st ? I don’t want it too far back.

Have any of you tried this before? Will it sound a bit more like my 4 banger?

Keep posting, but I guess you need to keep it in the Spector Club. I can't believe how incredibly negative the Forte thread still is!!!

The negativity and bashing in that Forte thread is crazy...

It seems like a lot of people who dislike Spector are just bashing all over it...

OH WAIT!!!! I forgot, were on the internet.. it's what we folk do. :)
