Spector NS Dimension

I think that’s a safe guess. Dingwall knew they had to custom spec for their design. Nordstrand offers Dingwall style designs for “standard” 18 or 19mm parallel fret basses, so it’s probably a fair guess that you can’t just rotate the Dingwall pickups and drop them in another design.
Dingstrand Nordwall 5

I can confirm that these Dingstrand/Nordwall pickups are not compatible with fanned-fret instruments - the pole spacing is meant for a parallel-fret installation.

Just received a reply from Spector. The replacements will have the same pickups. Not what I was hoping for. So on the hunt for some 4.5" housings.
That is most discouraging, I'm bringing the magnetic paper with me, and if that's the case and it doesn't reach I'm going to demand a refund. There is no way they can fix this with those pickups... But we shall see.

Question is, what the heck they gonna do about all the other ones!? If they just sweep it all under the rug that would be very disappointing. How many flawed ones do you reckon they've already made and shipped out there into the world?

Recieved another email from Spector. My replacement is 30 days out. I'm considering selling it. Not because I don't like the bass. It's fantastic other then the pickup issue they say is now fixed. Only because I mainly play my 6 strings and feel like it's going to just sit around.

So if anyone is interested in a brand new super faded black Dimension 5 string let me know. Cheaper than new or trade for a Euro 6.

PLEASE let us know what they "fixed" before you offload it anyway. A lot of my interest in the brand as a whole kinda hinges on how they handle the correction of an oversight like this!

From what they told me it's the same pickups. So my guess is the just changed the position.
Would that not create another problem?

To whom it may concern:

So I went to Spector USA yesterday and had a choice between 2 different dimension 5's to choose as a replacement. The both played about the same. The low B sounds a lot better and is much more punchy.
The bass is at the very least playable and sound ok.
They said the fix was to address the factor spacing of the strings, they changed the spacings so the low B now floats closer to the coils. That being said.

This seems to me, to be an obvious "quick fix" and not a real solution. The bass clearly needs wider pick-ups as even with the new spacing you can clearly see 2 of the coils barely reach under the string, (pics). Also the narrower string spacing makes the neck feel wide in comparison, almost comically. It not that bad but is quite noticeable after playing the previous bass, can't say if freash hands would notice it.

I can't over state how dissapointing this experiance has been so far. I firmly believe they are not intending to fix a major design issue with these basses and would highly recommend that unless you intend to replace the pickups yourself,

AVOID THE SPECTOR DIMENSION 5's, Don't buy this bass...

I'd be happy to hear anyone elses thoughts on this, thank all.

Man this is really disappointing to hear . I had high hopes for a multi scale from Spector with Fishman pickups.

This is what i sent them. I also attachent the photos I provided above.

To whom it may concern,

First off I'd like to thank everyone, the response time and professional attitude of everyone I have been in communication with has been stellar. Everyone has been very nice and accommodating.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the quality of this product.
I did appreciate being able to test the basses at your facility, but that environment wasn't quite ideal for me to get acquainted with the instrument. Having it at home and experimenting with it through my rig I still find the low B
still kinda meh. Probably because its still only getting 2/4 coils half the time. I can only imagine what it would sound like at full power...
When I first brought this to the attention of your team, I provided clear evidence of a serious flaw.
And lets be honest here, the string spacing theory is clearly not what happened. It sounds like some sort of last minute bean-counter band-aid.
The difference between being correct and "good enough".
The pickups on this piece of equipment are clearly not wide enough as per the pics im including.
This bass is incredibly well made outside of this issue.

I can't convey how dissapointed I am with this result. I was really hoping the company/brand would come through not try to slide one past.
I was so excited to acquire a Spector bass and honestly, I can't say that anymore.
I'd say I would try to sell the bass, but would feel conflicted doing so.
If this is the direction of the company I can only wish you good luck.
