Spector NS2-A: Search for the Hazlab Copy

This isn't the 5th Indiana Jones title, but I have a Spector NS2-A that's my WIP bass right now (get it? no?) When I got it, the pickups had already been swapped for EMGs and the fabled Hazlab Copy was nowhere to be found. It had been...

REMOVED.

I also found this receipt for some work done a few months ago in the case.

Not that one. I just found that in my room while I was looking for the other one. Here it is!

That's a really bad picture. Here's what it says:

Repair/Output jack - $9.95

Repair/25K pan pot - $9.95

Repair/2x 25K pots - $11.90

Repair/Rewire+Clean+Adjust bridge - $60.00

When I received the 2A, the volume and balance worked, but the other two were dead. I guess it was okay, but I didn't like having two dead pots, so I swapped all dat for an EMG BTS System. Now:

It even sounds nice, but after all of that, I still want to know the secrets of the elusive [DEL]Ark of the Covenant[/DEL] Hazlab Copy. I've heard good things about it. Can anyone tell me how the sound might differ from the EMG BTS? Finally, where would I find a Hazlab copy, or even an actual Hazlab? Would PJ be able to hook me up?

The Korean Haz Lab copy pre-amp is a close approximation of the vintage US 9V (Haz Lab). I prefer it to the EMG BQC and BTS. The TonePump is closer than the EMG pre's. I've had 2 NS-2A basses and loved the sound of the Korean Haz. It has the right about of grit and dirt to give the sound a 'on the verge of being over driven' tone.

What pele said. Their not too common to find anymore. The tone pump is the next best thing. Just gotta play with the setup with the pump a bit. There's more treb and bass available with the pump and its sensitive to pickup height adjustments. The output is also adjustable so you can drive the pre in your amp as much or as little as you want. You can also run the pump at 18v if you want. I have both and can make them sound the same. the pump is a little more aggro right of the bat though like the Kramer era 9v pre.
