SPECTOR over sensitive bass knob (like ON / OFF)

Hi guys! I bought a used 2003 Spector euro 4 bass and I am facing a bit of a problem. The bass knob operates on a quite ON/OFF way. From 0% to 89 % it makes absolutely no diference on the sound. When the bass knob hits kind of 90% the bass has a bump and functions like a ON/OFF, in a way that from 90% to 100% it has the same huge power/bump sound, making absolutely no difference in magnitude from 90% to 100%. The knob simply operates in a Black or white way...

So is the preamp already done? The time has come to replace it?

Have someone come into this situation with a Spector or any other bass?

Have you changed the battery?
Can you take a picture of the electronics inside the cavity and post that here?

I don't believe that resistor is supposed to be on the bass pot. That may be the issue. There's also evidence that the there's been some work done. That being the marks in the shielding paint, and the solder job looks off, then there's the odd resistor on the bass pot.
