In the U.S., yes, but the article states that a new spider was identified in South Africa in 2000.
They hang from their web and hope to catch something that runs into it. OMFG!!!! GETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFF!!!

Possibly. But seeing one actually perform in person would send me into therapy for a few years at least..

Luckily I'm not a huge arachnophobe. I actually wanted to see the claws on the ends of it's legs. 
But not as good as a Trogdoraptor.
