Squier 5 to 4 string "conversion" on Ebay :(

Yeah... cut with a tool we all happen to have laying around... it's called the floor.

I'd be interested to read the "conversion" process...

1. Apply the bass headstock to the nearest hard surface, as hard as you can. This can be done by dropping, throwing, or otherwise applying the power of gravity.

2. Panic.

3. Sand the "cut" smooth.

4. Remove bridge saddle.

5. Sell on ebay like a clown.

The price of uploading the photos and EBay fee's alone are more than he will get for the bass.....nobody in their right mind would bid....LOLOLOLOL....funny yet sad...

If it were crazy cheap, which it should be, I'd bet tempted to get it and fix the headstock - some new maple and some glue, finish the headstock in matching colour. Fun project, and like saving an abandoned and mistreated animal - very satisfying.

My bigger concern though would be the neck stability - only 4 strings on a 5 string neck for who knows how long, and I'm assuming anyone who did this hatchet job probably wasn't too concerned with mainatinaing a good setup

...yes, I do and I converted a MIA Squier Bullet Bass Deluxe back in '90 which I've used off and on 'till last week when the B-string mount chipped and won't hold the B, anymore! I've been playing rhythm/lead guitar but sure would like to fix mine so, I can keep playing my ol' friend when there's a need for some low note accompaniment!

I'm looking around So CAL to see if I can get parts for it, but, if I can't would you be willing to part with yours? (MILLSBASS5);

What a shame if I bought it I would buy a new 5 string neck & bridge & get it back to what it was.
I like the body.
Looks something a 5 year old would do

think of it this way guys....someone out here may be looking for a good body and hardware, AND can get that thing for 100-150? would they throw the neck away for 150 bucks for everything else, and add another neck?

and no opinion is valid on a funny ebay item without a "jab" so here it is:

WHO would want to even THINK about playing 4 strings off center on a wide 5 string neck like that?

Not me

I'd throw another 5 string neck on it and for a total of a few hundred spent on parts and the purchase of that thing...a very nice 5 string bass.

I mean, if the guy wanted to only use 4 strings, he only had to remove the 5th string. There was no reason to cut the ****ing head !
