Squier 5 to 4 string "conversion" on Ebay :(

Buy it for $100 - $150, then add THIS and you have a cool, cheap 5 string.

EXACTLY....you beat me to it. The mighty mite 5-string neck is a direct replacement and can be had for pretty cheap. Slap on another bridge (for find the saddle for that one) and bang....great 5 string for relatively cheap. I seem to remember people raving about the Squire Protones and I've heard one in my church (when I went to church) a LONG time ago and it had a great, punchy modern tone.

I'm going to venture a guess and say that the headstock broke, it wasn't cut. If someone had taken a saw to it, the cut would be straight across, wouldn't it? The cut between the tuner and the nut doesn't align with the cut above the tuner. I wish they'd included a side shot to see how that part is finished.

I don't know, it might be interesting to try and rebuild the headstock if it stays cheap enough.

Attention: MILLSBASS5

See my post (#27) above and forgive me for struggling trying to communicate with you about your Wilkinson 4-to-5 bass bridge which I'm interested in if I can't find a replacement saddle for the B-string within a few days so I can fix my Bullet Deluxe!

NO!!

I liked the Pro-Tones. I've played 2-both really similar to that one [except not butchered]. They were great basses. I never had the money for them when i saw them.

Well, it went for $152.50 US. Someone must have had a use for it, though I can't fathom what. Maybe they already have a neck for it. And a bridge.

That's exactly what I had in mind, I have a neck and gold saddles. Considering the quality of Pro tones, $150 was a fair enough price for me. I have the 4 string already and I love it. I found it at a pawn shop for $90 and consider that a steal. I've just been waiting on a deal for one of the five strings. This one had a decently matched 2 piece body, and that's not always the case with these. Somebody else was willing to pay more this time. Oh well, the search continues.
