Squier Affinity Jaguar Bass...H?!

Hey guys, does this seem like the same pot used in the Affinity?
Alpha Control Pots - StewMac
I want find a 500k volume pot for another bass that has the same short knurled shaft. Also I want the pot to have that nice "drag" feeling. This is for another bass. I have no idea if this is something called out in specs or what the actual word for that feel is. I'd like that “drag” over a fast spinning pot for sure.

I have a SBMM Ray4 pickup sitting around somewhere... it didn't sound like much on the Ray4, but has anyone tried putting one of those in the Jaguar H? I'd be curious how it sounds in that different spot on the body, or if it sounds like anything at all without a preamp.

Oh man, oh man! :drool: If I could get my little grubbies on a shell pink with matching headstock and a nice dark fretboard, I would order one immediately!

i had the vintage modified jag short scale but let it go when i got a fender Mexican jazz i loved the block inlays but could never get a deep enough sound from it, the jazz was ok ish but still wasn't happy i just received this affinity h 32 in black and maple neck and tbh it blows the vintage and the Mex out of the water the only mod i will be doing is Gotoh black tuners and Gotoh black bridge (201b4) just of how they would look? i really like the sound as is from the stock pup i cant believe the quality of the neck i took the action right down close and no fret buzz? astonishing? have a big charity gig in a few weeks
will report back when its played loud but i really like the playability of this bass i cant put the fecker down lol cheers all

Ain't she sweet? I've had mine awhile now and it is so comfortable to play and the tone is on the mark out of the box but my nature being a modder,I felt compelled to change out the pickup with a Sentell MM.I also installed a. 3 way switch wired to take advantage of the different tones offered by the pup.That's an easy and cheap mod I can recommend to any owners of this bass.

Good Day - I recently got a new Affinity Jaguar H and, as I was measuring to determine what string options I may have, it appears the "from the factory" strings have no visible taper - as if regular long scale strings are stock. I find this interesting as I've always heard this is a bad idea.

One can often get away with this with the big open-frame cloverleaf tuners, as they have thick posts which don't bend the string as much -- as long as the kinks where the string goes through the slot in the tuner are past the taper.
Thus, you can't put long-scale strings on a short-scale even if it has cloverleafs, but you can usually put them on a medium-scale with cloverleafs.
The newer-style triangle tuners have much smaller posts...too small to get away with this. The string will usually snap or go dead, if it even fits through the hole in the tuning post.

The only mod I may like would be a 3 way switch for series/coil/parallel for more variety of sounds, but that would require a pickup with more wires.

I agree totally. My jag will be here in 2/3 weeks. The only mod I'm thinking about is seeing if I can convert the stock pickup to 4 wire and series/parralell it.
