Squier Affinity Jaguar Bass...H?!

Does anyone actually like the stock pickup? I am not a big fan of modding but I'd like a medium scale bass and I found one with these with no neck dive.
Got my Jaguar H yesterday and brought the action down and it intonated fine with no buzzing strings. Have not amped it yet by with just a Vox headphone amp plugged in with headphones, no electronic hum till I hook up computer to the Vox headphone amp. Regarding the pickup, I agree with Low End Lobster guy that the stock pickup does not have much definition, and to me it sounds kinda like the old Gibson bass humbuckers. Although it is hot. I don't know what pickup to replace it with. I would like one that I can do the 3 way series/single/parallel switching, maybe with a dummy coil in the middle to get it in single coil mode without the hum. Will have to get the guitar tech. on it. Push/pull would work but I want the single coil also.

Just got mine in blue and Im blown away by this little monster.
The only thing I want to change is the pickup.
Will EMG MM-HZ passive be a good and inexpensive replacement?
Does it fit well in the cavity?
Other recomendations for a passive MM style pickup?
Thanks in advance

EMG MM HZ will work, but you will have to modify the control cavity slightly as the EMG pots with the attached PCB are a little bigger than stock, and the cavity tolerances are tight

This bass is a little beauty ain't she?
I bought a Sentell MM quad coil.I haven't installed it yet but I've used their pups before and they are excellent. It was 108 bucks.Check out Low-end Lobster for ideas,he's put more MM replacement pickups in basses than anyone.I have been pleasantly surprised with the sound of Seymour Duncan MM replacement pickups in both magnet options. They're reasonably priced also.

Here you go! I enjoy their bridges

Everyone is out of the AlBridge M20. What other bridges do you know of that work without drilling and without hanging over the end? Also I have ordered the Norstrand MM 4.2 pickup. Although it is subjective, with the 3 way switching, I believe it will sound better than what's in there now. I appreciate your videos and help.

I think the Babicz would look pretty fly on this bass, thoughts?

Anxious for the video. I replaced the bridge with a decent Gotoh 201 and just received my Sentell Quad MM pup.Waiting on a 3 way switch from Reverb to start the install.I wish I possessed a fraction of your tech skills and I'll probably "Chicken Lobster" out and hand it over to Noll Guitars.
Was the Gotoh a drop in, and did you have to shim the neck at all?

That should sound great. I recently had a 4.4 installed in one of my basses and I love it. From what I’ve heard, the 4.2 is a little more aggressive than than the 4.4. That should be a good thing in the Jaguar H.

@taosword the Fender HiMass is drop in.

If only I could find a black pickguard for it.
As for Sentell I'm checking their site now. Never heard of this company before.
Which model did you buy as a replacement, B34 or B46-4?
B44 is a tasty alternative too, if you're into the P sound.

I knew within a few minutes of playing that I didn’t like it actually. I needed more high end. If I were in a country band or just doing a basic gig thumping out root notes, it would be fine, but I’m in a band with some weird bass lines that need more treble response as they’re part of some of the melodic hooks, so out of necessity it was changed. And I can get the sound of that original mud bucker with my treble rolled off entirely if needed, so I think the pickup swap is a sensible move to make the bass more usable and capable of different sounds. It’s a bit of a one trick pony bone stock.

I have the b-34 quad coil.It allows for a few different pickup configurations for more sounds, very versatile.

@kevmac and @Petros-J I'm looking at those two Sentells, or bringing the bass to Mo @Nordstrand or Delano Ray Jay. Decisions decisions....
Almost went Seymour Duncan SMB-4A but their site specifically says it's not for use with a three way switch.
