Squier Affinity Jaguar Bass...H?!

Thanks for those values, I would love to put in the Bigman, I would think it could be configured the same way based on the pickup description. A thought I had last night, I wonder how long it will take for the market to start making aftermarket pick guards?

Well here comes the confusion.I got the shipping notification early this morning saying delivery scheduled for Wednesday 6-30.Cool I'm thinking, but not so fast.a few hrs later I get another one saying the first one's cancelled by the sender, and now it's scheduled for July 5th. Kinda strange, but better late than never.
As I posted earlier mine arrived this morning and iv had a couple of hours to mess around.I've plugged into my Sushi Box Sunday Drive (Sun Model T) preamp and with just a tiny bit of hair dialed in this baby sounds fantastic. The neck is very comfy and the pup actually sounds pretty good.Best $249 i'v spent in a long time.I love cheapos'.

Even though I ordered this 8 days ago from a shop 36 miles away, USPS took their sweet time getting the bass to me. It was in USPS’ hands for 7 whole days. If I had a car I could have just made a quick trip out to get it.

It’s absolutely beautiful. I took it out the box, stripped off the original bridge and strings, and installed a Hipshot Kickass bridge and D’addario XL balanced 95-40 strings. I actually love the way this thing sounds and plays.

I did give the bass a good inspection when I took it out of the box, and unfortunately it looks like USPS gave the box a nice smack and then taped it over.

It’s on the forearm contour edge, not bothersome, just hoping I can get a little discount for the hassle.

I know , mine came FedEx and it took 8 days to cross the country. While tracking, it made stops at every depot.I must have road in at least 20 trucks, instead of just putting it on a plane. The box was a mess from so much handling but luckily no damage.

Is it exactly the same? Could I put a neck from a 30” Jag on it and move the bridge forward and make it into a 30” scale pretty easily???
Good question, but my guess is the neck pocket for the 30” is smaller? Also the pickup positions might not be the as ideal given the scale. But the 32” is amazing, I have the 30” bass (or rather my kid does) and it has that feel, but a little better IMO. Just right!

Any chance you could measure the neck pocket for me and post the dimensions?
does anyone out there have both and can compare the neck pockets?

Yeah, same standard neck pocket, you should be OK with a 30” neck. But comparing bridge location, the bridge is 3/4” to 1” higher with the 30” Jaguar. You might need to move the bridge up for a 30” setup? Pickup location is higher too as I suspected. A luthier I am not! Would probably be worth asking someone who knows this stuff.

There are a few that just arrived in the Atlanta area and I got a notification today about it. This bass is really tempting.
I own 26 basses of all type and price ranges,G&L,Spector,Carvin,H Benton,KTone.I'm retired and I don't smoke, drink or gamble so with my mad money I've been buying cheapo basses and I've been very impressed at what one can get for under a fin and what years ago would have been considered absolute garbage.Seriously I really like this bass, everything about it is above it's weight class.I mean mine was $249.delivered, that's a meal for two in a decent restaurant.Life's short, go for it!

Has anybody noticed that (according to the Squier site anyway) the maple FB models (blue and black) are made in China, while the indian laurel FB model (charcoal frost) is made in Indonesia? Can those that have them already confirm/deny where they're made?

This seems very odd. Perhaps the website has photos of preproduction units or something along those lines? I suppose in the end it doesn't matter. I just found it really weird.

If you're just guessing this based off of product photos, those probably aren't very indicative of what's produced where. They could have done production runs in both factories and it's just dumb luck which models were sent to the photographers.

Both factories will be using the same files fir their CNC machines. The fit should be the same for both Chinese and Indonesian guitars. I don’t know, however, if there’s a difference in finish quality and sanding, fret finishing, etc.

For 250 it’ll be a good axe with some TLC and some setup.
