squier bronco neck finish ?

If you are only going to finish the headstock, I would sand well with 400 grit and then put a vintage tint on it. Blend it into the back of the neck and put about 2-4 coats of clear lacquer. Sand again with 600 or 800 and then put on 4 -6 more coats of clear lacquer. Let it dry for 3-4 days and sand with 1200 and then with 2000 and polish it to a high luster.

Here are some in progress pictures of the body this neck will be used on. I'm using a premade tele body I bought off ebay. the routing and finish were very poor. Luckily I planned on refinishing it. I opened up the neck pocket, plugged and rerouted bridge pickup cavity and cut a forearm bevel.

It has a satin finish, so I'll just buff it with steel wool.

Umm...the edge is still raw, right? I'd seal it with something -- satin polyurethane or clear lacquer. Here's one of my Bronco headstocks finished using clear Deft lacquer:

Thanks Ponticat, I should have said I'll buff it after I put the finish on it. I didn't know what the original finish was. Don't want to use something that won't blend or have an adverse reaction. I like your tuners, wish I could have found some like that. The stock tuners are pretty sloppy so I'm putting the full size Fender elephant ears on it. Would have saved a step not having to open the holes so much.
