Squier Cabronita Cheep!

hehe Yeah I should mention that I really don't know if you're supposed to let UPS know ahead of time or not.. (anyone know?) I have friends at work who have done this many times for all sorts of things ranging from tires to instruments, I'm just not sure the procedure for going through with it. If I recall correctly you simply use your name (and phone # if applicable?) but their address (obviously), and show up within a few days of it arriving to pick it up, pay the tab of roughly $10-20 and be on your way. I'm in a secured building and brown Santa and blue santa (ups and fedex) can't get in so I do the "hold at fedex location for pickup" delivery option then specify the location (store). I would imagine you would do the same.
Why bother though? The price is $262CAD if you buy from MF. Really not a premium.You pay 13% (in Ontario anyways) tax and you are done. MF will ship to Canada and charge you in CAD.
Price update...I just came from the local GC and they had a new Squier Cabronita for $179.99.
I've been waffling about getting one for quite a while. I like the neck, tone and general aesthetic but I've been concentrating on short-short scales like my Ubass lately. I couldn't resist at that price so it followed me home.

Others have posted about the neck on the Squier Cabronita and I have to agree that it's the best feeling neck I've ever had on any Fender product old or new. For S&Gs I measured the nut width on mine and it's 1-9/16" which, IME, is an odd size for a Fender/Squier. Wider than a J bass but more narrow than a P bass.
I own both a Squier Cabronita and a Squier CV50's and I can confirm that God's Favorite Bass is absolutely right. The necks are the same on both basses. My favorite neck for me too.
It IS a nice neck (CV50's) you are right. I think the only difference is (correct me if I'm wrong because my Cabronita's are Fender not Squire) the Squire Cabronita has medium jumbo frets and the CV50's are vintage size (at least the 2 CV50's I have are) and the Fender Cabronita has a glued on maple fretboard where the CV50's (and I assume Squire Cabrobnita) are pressed into the neck with no glued on fretboard. A very comfortable neck to be sure. Can't help but dig 'em!

This thread ain't so good for my GAS. Went bass shopping a week or two back and ended up with a nice MIM P-bass, and I was specifically looking for a decent P.
But at a GC they had a Squier Cab--new--marked at $179. Couldn't resist playing it. Played really nicely. I dig the neck on it. I wasn't convinced by the pickup, but I didn't futz around with a ton of EQ or amp settings or anything. Besides, that's an easy enough fix.
I gotta say, at that price it was hard to walk away from and I've come close to pulling the trigger through MF or someplace.
But, what I really wanted was a P with a rosewood board and that's what I got and I'm happy.

Once you have played either version of Cabronita, you cannot unplay it...you'll be back
+1 Had the fender version and loved it except the slab body and I couldn't get along. Missed that neck until I picked up a modern player tele bass (with body contour, yay!). I think maybe they're the same neck?
