Just got one myself! Saved sales tax and was able to use PayPal (not available at GC).

I snagged one of those FidelTron pickups when they were on sale for $19,95. Ever since, I've been curious as to what the actual Cabronita bass would sound like with TWO pickups. Now I have an opportunity to find out, if I should decide to go that way. Hmmmm...............

I'm thinking of doing the same thing, in a Ric-bronita type configuration...

takeout- Are you considering filling in the center pickup mount, and going for a bridge/neck configuration, or keeping the middle pickup, and going either with a bridge/middle or middle/neck dual pickup design? That's the part that's got me scratching my head.

dude, leave that pickup in there, buy another pickup and add BOTH to it! One at the neck position, one in the middle, and one at the bridge! that would be awesome

Middle/Neck. I think the pole spacing is too narrow for Bridge. I know some say that not having the pole pieces line up won't affect string-to-string volume, but that's not been my experience with other pickups.

The next question would be whether or not to use a TRS jack with a switch to allow stereo splitting with the right cabling...

ScarfFace- You are EVIL, man! Now that's something that REALLY makes me think.....a TRIPLE FideliTron Cabronita? I sure wish I had the talent I've seen displayed elsewhere on this Forum with PhotoShop. I'd truly love to see a mockup of (3) FideliTrons on a Cabronita body! Next would be the question of what kind of switching would be necessary to control all 3 pickups. I usually like having some kind of Variometer, rather than a tone knob. Three individually controlled volumes? Yeah, I need to find someone who can make this up on PhotoShop for me....

OMG! That is truly breathtaking! I wonder how it would sound? In that shot, it almost looks like the bridge pickup needed to be another 1/2" closer to the bridge? Anyway, I now have some REAL pondering to do!

If he were going for symetrical I can see what you mean, but that looks to be about the right spot for a MM pickup placement, he probably tried to find the sweet spots for the extra two pickups.

Good point, Woodsbass. Now for the next issue....how would I manage to put at least (4) knobs on there in a fashion that wouldn't suck? I'm thinking I would need a V-V-V-T, with the tone knob being replaced with a Variometer of some sort. Anybody have other ideas?

I know you don't like tone knobs but a triple PU Cab screams for 3 stacked V/T controls. And maybe add a PU selector switch?
