Squier Classic Vibe 2019

Yes, you spot out the point.
Since China CV build quality are better than previous fender mim std even current mim Player. Stop the great CV line and rebranding the VM line to 2019 CV to make the quality different to mim player.
This is FMIC's very deliberate business approach.

I mean, I have a Matt Freeman Precision that's GREAT, and a Player P bass that I bought online without trying before I got it.. if I could only keep one, it'd be the Player. The Freeman is an incredible instrument, especially for the money, but the Player is lighter, has better pots & tuners, a preferable neck finish (although that's opinion), and better fret work.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Freeman and it was my main gigging bass for years, but I played a few different Player Jags, Ps & Jazzes and they were all excellent too.

I had some good VMs, but none were as good as the MIM models, or CIC CVs. Will have to try out the new range. I have an Indonesian made Deluxe Dimension bass which is astonishingly good, though, so hopefully they live up to that.

I'm looking for a Chinese CV Jazz everyday but they don't pop up or they were left abandonned from the day the person who listed bought it... and from the picture I see a very dry rosewood and a tarnished brass on the saddles
Mine was in a right old state when I bought it but it was worth the time and effort in cleaning it up. I’m sure you could have cloned the previous owner from the amount of DNA left on the bass. :vomit:

How are the brass saddles now? Could you get them back to being shinny? I had to replace the whole thing!
They are clean but not too shiny and suit the vibe of my bass which is definitely not in pristine overall condition.

I can’t understand why sellers don’t clean their instruments before trying to sell them, they could ask a lot more money if they were prepared to put a bit of effort in.

I have had the opportunity to try about three specimens of the 2019 CV 70’s Jazz 4-strings. I have to say that each one has been absolutely superb. Better than all of the most recent VM 70’s that I have played. (The VM’s had all sorts of QC issues from bad poly-applications to crooked and off-center bridges)
I own a very good 2014 VM JV and I am considering getting a CV 70’s JV. Problem is that no stores near me have any 5’s. Are they even out yet?

Anybody put a fender neck on a 2019 CV body? Interested in possibly marrying a Player or Standard J neck with a CV P body. Wondering if any mods are needed, thanks!

Totally good to go. Just take your time when un/screwing screws. The neck screws that Fender/Squier gives on 2019 is just GARBAGE. The chrome on the heads get all cracked and tiny bits can cut your fingers skin and get inside. I'm NOT joking. My 2011 CV screws are intact after SEVERAL removals. Buying quality screws seems to be a pain today. I bought Gotoh screws and it was the same sh**.

Great, thanks! I have heard of MIM necks dropping in to VM bodies, even Affinities, but as you know there are variations across all lines.

Affinities is a special case. If you got one with the right one headstock shape and "normal" tuners, you'll be fine. If you get one with the non Fender headstock shape and the very light "close gear" tuners, adapting parts will be a mess.

This headstock means parts upgrade will be a mess.

This headstock is the same shape as modern Precision Bass MIM/MIA. Just the tuners are a bit offset, but the necks are same specs.

The VMs were the same, horrible quality neck screws. Same Indonesian factory as the CV now I guess.

Thanks! The original neck is long gone, but it was a 2005 Indonesia, definitely with open back tuners. And hey, if it doesn’t fit, I get to go shopping for a new body straight away! :smug:

Sam Ash gave me a $50 off coupon and I had just sold an amplifier to a TBer so I had some room on the credit card. I totally fell for the daphne blue jazz.
I had an '81-'82 American made jazz for years and ultimately did not like it at all. The neck was fantastic but the body was extremely heavy dense wood and either the wood or the pickups or the combination of the two made it sound really harsh, so I was glad to get rid of it, and I swore to myself I would never get another jazz.
Until...
The bass arrived the other day and I don't have tons of experience with different basses but this thing is a really great instrument. Fit and finish gorgeous, light, perfectly balanced, neck is really amazing. And c-shaped, not d-shaped like my old jazz (like playing a baseball bat)(okay, a pretty nice baseball bat)
No, I totally do not need another bass but this is far and away one of the nicest instruments I've ever played.(not that I've played that many) If you like passive jazzes and you are in the market these are fantastic.
