Squier Classic Vibe 60's vs Ibanez ATK 200

Hey!

I'm looking for a beginner/intermediate bass to play mostly gospel music. There are a lot of options but the ones that got my attention were Ibanez SR500, ATK 200, Squier Classic Vibe 60 Jazz. At this moment the Squier is winning. It will be really helpful if you could give me your opinions on this.

Ibanez make a good modern bass. The SR line has always been a great all rounder. The ATK appeals to some rock and metal cats more.

It totally depends on your goals.
I would have the Classic Vibe because I own two good modern basses, a BTB and Spector Legend. Most reviews suggest that the Classic Vibe Jazz is a very nice instrument at a very tempting price-point. If you're after a great all rounder the SR might have a bit more punch than the Jazz, but it will probably come down to whether you like the Ibanez neck profile or not.

I really enjoy the Ibanez Sr500. It has a great 3 band eq w/mid switch. Nice neck and sleek body finish. Very playable and light weight bass.

The Squier is a great bass aswell. Nice jazz neck and solid finish. Great jazz sound.

I havne't had the pleasure of playing the Ibanez ATK 200, but it seems similar to the 300, which is again a fantastic bass! Verstile and well made.


Everyone on here will tell you it all comes down to you playing the bass and deciding.


I will say in my personal opinion....the sr500. Very comfortable bass that sounds great with plenty of sound adjustment .

Thanks for your opinions! The ATK 200 is mostly discarded because I don't think I'll be playing too much hard rock or metal music in any near future. I will go to an instrument store and play the Squier and SR500 to take a final decision. Also I am inclined to mostly thin necks at this moment.

And keep just the Atk200

First and foremost is not like the Atk300

This one's made in China not Indonesia (where now the Atk800
Premium is made) and sport a double humbucker bridge pickup,
not a triple coil anymore.

The double humbucker means that the switch only... switches from front/both/rear doublecoils, while former triple coil offered
the opportunity of front serial option (with full high cut filter) center serial option (with full trebles) and rear parallel option, much like a MusicMan kinda humbucker.

Now: is this one tailored for more than metal? It's up to your setup, equalization and fx... Surely a double humbucker is not as versatile as a serial/parallel option should be

I don't see how an Ibanez Sr500, except the one with maple fingerboard, can appeal you and meet your requirements
Anyway, if you dig a modern (but Vintage looking) Squier Jazz I really think that you can look for an active deluxe Jazz.

Three band active equalizer with midscoop switch (like Ibanez)
and a basswood Jazz body (like Squier Classic Vibe) and there you're at:bassist:

Comfort is in the eye of the beholder. SR line has it's place and are good all around instruments. However, the necks are pencil thin and they can be very uncomfortable and awkward if you have big hands. Make sure you try one first.

ATK and the Squier CV are both good choices. I'd lean toward the ATK for gospel for it's beefier sound rather than the thinner sounding jazz.
