Squier Classic Vibe Club (Part 3)

i heard about the layoff, but not the reason.

Fender's loss in the long run - it takes YEARS to build teams like that.

Well, it appears to be more of a case of the pandemic guitar hobby boom finally ending; they had ramped up production like crazy the last couple years to meet demand, often with less experienced workers. They've now made those same people redundant. It's a terrible development for the folks who lost their jobs, undoubtedly. I remain less convinced that Fender has just kneecapped their production model by firing all their most senior employees, though.

Doesn't help they raised their prices like 3 times. People aren't gonna spend that much boom or no boom. For people picking up a new hobby there are much cheaper quality alternatives today.

I've ordered and installed the KAISH anodized pickguards on four of my Telecasters. They are very high quality and the 5-hole screw hole pattern is exact on each of them. I'm close to ordering a KAISH silver guard for my incoming CV LPB Late '60s Jazz Bass. These KAISH guards are on eBay for near the same money as those on AliExpress, and some of them ship from Houston, Texas, instead of all the way from China. If you like the look of anodized pickguards, the KAISH product is excellent and the price point is unbeatable.

I wish this bass got test drive by Anthony from Empire music. Those bass tone from his video (his hand and playing style) sound close and live to my real world listen quality.

On my Ampeg Rb112, di out sound quality are totally different compare to MIC direct record.

I would be proud to be part of the club ! My new CV 50’s arrived yesterday and I strung it up with a fresh set of Pyramid Gold chrome flats . After doing a complete setup this bass sounds and plays fantastic . The fit , finish and overall quality is awesome and the threaded saddle bridge is solid . I find no need to change the pickup or the tuners .
This bass is just the vibe and tone I wanted . This bass and my Lakland pj have it all covered for me . I am amazed with the quality for the price . I am thinking of seeing how it looks with the pickguard off and the thumb rest on as Sting did with his basses .

Thanks man ! Took her to a friends house today that wanted to jam and the bass just rang out clearly and sang in a heavy loud mix rocking out some Police tunes . It was a blast and we all had fun and so did friends and the neighbors It turned into a block party ! The drummers voice sounds so much like Sting it’s nuts . Here is the half of my rig that pushes that power amp and it’s very versatile . The only thing I may add is a chorus that won’t lose bottom end . ( haven’t decided which one yet ) .

Nice! Love the Mesa preamp out front.

I have a Mesa Subway D-800 with a SW 112 and 115. It delivers! Recently added a Tech 21 Geddy Lee YYZ pedal and it sounds glorious! Enjoy jammin' on that bad boy!

Two different animals. The tapes will give you old school, Motown sounds, while the Cobalt Flats will speak with some energy and clarity.

If you don't like the crispness of the Cobalt tone, just roll back the tone pot on your bass and you're in vintage territory.

accurate!

i was a die hard round wound player for decades.

i had tapes on my Rob Allen MB2 - appropriate for that design.

I've tried a bunch of flats and NEVER bonded with them.

but took a Cobalt Flats chance a few days ago with my fretless Jazz - nice, but not as mind-blowing as when i tried a set on my Ray34.

then my 70s jazz - wow.

just ordered a set for my FSR Jazz and my EHB-1505.

About the EHB 1505, I am actually thinking revisit the multi scale 5 string bass again. So, EHB1005ms, srms 805 and Cort Beyond in my list. They are only 1505ms new in box , I can't compare with the other. I thought the Nordy pup could sound better clarity than BH2, but she just sound hollow and weird. Even how I tweak EQ on board preamp and bass amp, she just sound unique which not impressed me at all. I instantly have no hope on EHB1005MS.......

Another issue I found on 1505 is the neck feeling and build quality. Flat D profile and the neck wood not smooth at all. The fret edge also no polished well. Those cheapo Gio 200 feel better smooth than she.

I wish the new version of EHB1005 has T1 pup loaded which sound pretty good on BTB MS.

not my experience with the 1505 at all.

maybe you're just used to the heavy polyurethane coating on most Squiers.

i, for one, can't wait to sand that crap off.

i love the feel of the EHB 1505 neck and stainless frets.

and the tone is killer! even passive!
