Squier Classic Vibe Club (Part 3)

Spruced up my CV 70s J:
Vintera 50s Precision neck + Delano big pole pickups. I love this thing now lol

I take it down to check it out and it desperately needs a set up, but it is brand new. The bridge has the corrosion these bridges seem inclined to and the fretboard is super thirsty, but here it is!! I have had two of these in the past, one being the James Johnston sig, and I regret moving on from them. Hopefully I've learned my lesson and this one will be around for the long haul!

Congrat on your good find! I love that sweet brown rosewood fretboard. I do believe this type of wood tone match pretty well with Deep Red tort pickguard.

If you put the black pickguard along with Jocomo pearl inlay sticker, she transform to 70s J look instantly.

Yes, I know they had the same bridge as the first-generation CV's. I flirted with buying one of the Sunburst models when they hit the market. Seeing it up close, there were a few touches that hinted at their common point of origin...the bridge, the neck with the same vintage tinting/no skunk stripe and the "Crafted In China" decal were all clues.

I gotta say, it felt just fine in my hands, so much so, I probably would've bought either the Sunburst Jazz or ordered a Transparent Black model. But, despite the big doubled single-coil pickups, the sound didn't light a fire in me. Not a bad sound, but it didn't blow my mind like my Fender Blacktop did at that time.

That being said, if I found a great deal on a first-gen Modern Player Jazz (the second-gen MP's kinda left me cold), I'd be tempted to grab it with the express purpose of replacing the pickups. With what, I have no idea, but the hunt is half the fun! :D (I could see doing some additional routing and turning it into an HH MusicMan/Jazz hybrid, though... :whistle:)

Very inexpensive pickguards, I just grabbed a brown tort Kaish PG to see it on my CV 70’s Walnut P. It was the EXACT same guard as the Dopro even down to the add picture from Amazon.

Between the Brass barrels and the Gold Squier logo it works great on your bass.
Just think the white works with the dots.

Is it unconventional to post about work in progress FrankenSquiers? Just got a good deal on a white CV 60s P body- gonna put my 70s CV J neck on it and see how it feels (might put my Vintera Precision neck on it though!)

Hardware & electronics will consist of a fully loaded Nate Mendel Signature P pickguard & a brand new black Hipshot Kickass bridge.

I may swap the stock roadworn Mendel SPB-3s out with a new set of Nordstrand P Blade pickups- decisions decisions lol
Will post pics once I get it all put together, just waiting for parts to arrive :woot:

Oly White P body + Black pickguard + Vintera P neck = You rebirth a Matt Freeman P !

Well I think it’s @EagleMoon ‘s thread, haven’t seen a post from EagleMoon (unless I missed it) since 2022 but I for one would definitely like to see that FrankenSquier CV as it comes together…
