Squier Classic Vibe Club (Part 3)

cV stock bridge plate are nickel coat , meanwhile Vintera bridge are chrome.

If you put the Vintera neck with vintage tuning machines set which has nickel coat, it will match the stock CV nickel plate nicely.

The CV60p bridge's intonation screws are 2 long on D/G,and 2 short on E/A. I have one that install on my Bacchus J bass. The intonation screws are thinner than Vintera one which I can't install Fender intonation screws through the intonation screw holes on CV 60P bridge. So , I took out Bacchus bridge DG intonation screws to replace CV60P EA screws to make them has equal length. Just OCD thing my self.

I have vintage bridge from Indo CV50P , it has 4 same length intonation screws and same screws diameter to Fender spec . I swap the Vintera saddle with CV50P saddle which has narrow threaded that let me better precise to adjust string spacing.

The message I wanna mention is, samik made CV50P bridge parts are shareable with Fender vintage bridge. But Cortex made CV60P and 60J bridge are not.

I have Fender 9050L on my previous CIC CV60J , make the stock pup sound bigger and tighter along with better low mid present.

Highly recommended flatwound bass string for jazz bass after EB Cobalt flat.

Decided to go with the Vintera neck- digging the profile too much to have it just sit on a shelf lol. This is a super light one, too. I don’t have a scale anymore but I think it weighs less than my actual Nate Mendel P (which is like 8.6 lbs) neck dive is also minimal, miraculously!

I've become a bit of a convert to these basses recently... just before Xmas I started a new band with some friends along the lines of early proto-metal and psychedelia. I tried a few of my basses including an Aria SB700 and a Guild B301 but they didn't quite click.

I'd always regretted selling my MIJ Fender '51 Precision as I thought the sound would fit the music we're making so went on the lookout for a Squier, as I already had a VI and love it, and quickly found an early CV locally. The build and feel blew me away, although the SD QP pickup was unimpressive so I put the original back in.

Me being me, I decided I needed another one and quickly found a recent CV, again local to me and as-new.

They're both a fair weight, but very comfortable to play - much more than the slab bodied Fender I used to own.

The newer CV has a slightly narrower neck and is easier to play. There isn't much difference in build quality, although the newer bass has cheaper feeling tuners. They are very different tonally - the early CV is a lot warmer and bassier, whereas the newer is very trebly and aggressive - my preferred tone is "angry distorted piano" and with my distortion set up this bass just roars. Instant Live At Leeds!

I did intend to modify the white bass in tribute to Chris Squire's Time And A Word /Yes Album era Telecaster bass, but I'm not sure I can bring myself to carve it up.

I've now got an early blue 60s CV Precision coming in the next few days :D

It is a nice looking basswood body without Olympics white paint.

Last week, bought this Squier VM, almost same body; as for profit reasons, gonna resell it, soon.

Great call! I gave a Mighty Mite Jazz body the Reggie-sig treatment and have never regretted it! Between that, the Bartolini Classic pickups and the series/parallel wiring, it rocks something fierce! :thumbsup:

Fender neck, CTS pots, Orange drop cap, cloth pushback wiring, Fender Original 62 pick-ups and lucked out on nice dark tort

There are 3 70s look CV hybrid pbass appear in the club currently.

I am waiting anodised black spray paint for the gold pickguard , make my hybrid MF p back to early look but not plastic pickguard.

Guys is there any lucky dock who got a / CHINA MADE / CV 70 Jazz Bass !??? I saw 2 on Reverb USA (Europe : 0) and both of them have quarter-sawn neck. The finish and binding are way better just from pictures, from their Indonesian counterparts...

Nice!…Mine got played a bunch today… super fun bass, the neck feels great, stock pickups sound killer with Fender flats I like it more every time I pick it up

Gah that is gorgeous! I might have to try a pearloid guard. Is that normal or aged?

Fender flats are great. I'm still using the stock Fender rounds on mine. My current band is going for that post punk 80's sound so I play a lot of upper register stuff with chorus always on. They cut through nicely.

Hey thanks fir that…:thumbsup: it is the aged pearloid, I thought it looked good with the binding and the pearloid blocks, I can look up seller just can’t remember off the top of my head, it was from eBay or Amazon…I am a fan of Fender 7250’s they are pretty much my “go to” rounds.

I’m am with @Robot.G in that the tort looks surprisingly good with that color…
