Yeah it was better than the stock Laurel Fretboard so I fully committed with a Fender neck and pearl guard
My next project would be a roasted maple neck and a tort pickguard

So far, no one has scolded me for posting a parts-bass using Squier parts. I just try to make sure said parts are from the Classic Vibe series, not a Squier Standard, Vintage Modified, Deluxe, etc...

Those Classic '70s Jazz necks are one of my two, most favorite necks Fender has ever produced, especially the ones with a rosewood fretboard*, with the other being the CIJ-era Aerodyne necks.
*: Nothing against pau ferro. I just think the rosewood looks better, more often than not.
I started the club but I haven’t been here much in the past few years so it’s taken on a life of its own.
I don’t see any problem with posting a parts bass as long as it’s CV based.

That neck…
This one was just missing a pickup/right pg, had a black kickass bridge, and some weird pink stuff all over it. The body and neck were still together. It’s still a CV60s, just with a himass bridge, qp pup, and replacement pg.
My board just LOOKS dry. I’ve used Gerlitz Guitar Honey forever and oiled TF out of it when I put those strings on a couple months ago. It just is what it is.
Yea I was just hacking on ya, some of those boards will “suck up” as much juice as you can give ‘em which may not be the best way to go anyway…
Gerlitz is what I use also, good stuff! I have heard people that have soaked the board in Walnut oil but once it settles it still “looks dry” but it is conditioned.
Also seen a couple of those stubborn boards with Montypresso Relic Wax, it takes a few treatments but the result is more even much darker board, but purely aesthetic. It a nice bass, enjoy!
I do enjoy it. I play my Tbirds more in the band just because they fit the mix better and are lighter but I noodle on the P at home, a lot. The board has probably the most open grain I've ever seen but everything seems stable enough.
I think he was using that as an example for the ‘look’.
Had my Late '60s CV Jazz out last night, I also put together another parts P and it needed strings and since I didn’t have a Jazz wearing flats I took the stock Fender rounds from the J and moved them over. The Late 60’s got Fender Flats and WOW the bass went from a really solid player to an incredible player… I mean it feels really good now! The neck on this is great, flats on this 60’s is killer!
The CV 60s P body arrived, along with the Nate Mendel pickguard. Was hoping the black Hipshot Kickass would come today but I’m leaning more towards either using a stock CV bridge or a stock vintage style Vintera bridge. In any case I’ll be piecing it all together tomorrow!
