Hello, I have a rounded trussrod nut on my beloved Chinese CV60 P (speaking about it a few pages before). I can manage to adjust the trussrod with a Torx T30 key (5.52mm). It will get worst and worst so I adjust it as few as I can.

The gripper wrench should help you get it adjusted as it is tapered, if you can get a bite I suggest loosening the strings tension when adjusting and "help" the neck along, tune to pitch and if you need more just rinse and repeat. Good luck!

is a nice grab. I did similar but used a block and bound maple CV neck I had kickin around and on put it on a daphne Classic Vibe body. I added a parchment guard on this one, it does have stock CV pickups (for now) if I was gonna replace them I think I'd go with Tonerider TRJ1's

I've grown rather fond of Bartolini humcancelling B-Axis J-pups, but…
- I haven't used them with flats, yet.
- I don't know if they can be gotten for under $200. (I'm on my phone with bad connectivity, right now.
) - If they are a feasible solution, I would strongly suggest checking out as many demo vids as possible before buying.

Great job on the videos as well. I usually lose interest in demo videos after hearing nothing but slab bass or only using a pick while playing to a hard rock drum track. You demonstrated nothing but useful sounds and included flats! Definitely going to check out more of your stuff
I had a nice set of Bartolini pickups in an old ibanez bass I liked a lot, although it had an active preamp and those days are long gone. I'll check them out for sureLots of suggestions abound today…

Most are though I have had a couple necks that took a little extra work to fit them on the body IIRC one was a lined fretless that was too wide for the pocket and then there's the 50's Fender/Squier necks that have a more squared off heel cut they will work with but they do need modification. I have swapped and or replaced many Fender necks to Squier bodies and vice versa over the years…

Couple days ago, i swap CV70P neck to Mod PJ body , and put the Matt freeman neck on CV70P body.
Both has no fitting issue.
BUT !!!!
MF neck on CV70P body sound more heft and full compare to original CV70P neck. Meanwhile, the CV70P neck on MOd PJ sound lacking low mid ! Dude, it is massive tone Dimarzio PJ set has no bottom !
Conclusion : Neck wood density and profile impact bass tone !
Both has no fitting issue.

On NJ4 60s J review, you play more aggressive and heavy hand on stock pickups. More relax and gentle on JN4 set. hehehe........
Funny that Neck pup sound quite mellow (even tone 100% ) on NJ4 60s J set.
NJ4 60s J are warmth and full sounding, but on mellow side ( maybe cause by DR Pure Blue bass string ). For me, affordable sweet 60s voice J pickup set in my head are Dimarzio Area J with well broken in round wound bass string.
Stock pup sound quite nice for me, work well with effect pedal. With some amp EQ tweak , she can sound full and warmth along with nice upper mid voice . I recall my previous Fender Rumble R200 combo able make thin sounding jazz bass sound full and warmth just press on the tiny Vintage button.
On NJ4s 70J set pup review, i found the E string sound blur and less snap/focus as stock pup. But result may different with 70s jazz bass which has 70s J bridge pickup placement.
But in this video, i love NJ4 70J with La bella flat .

I think intellectually people know that the neck matters, but since they all SEEM the same, it tends to get discounted/forgotten. You've provided a good example why this needs to be remembered.
I can only agree with this.
I swapped the neck on my Squier Afinity jazz bass from a Warmoth slim taper jazz neck made of roasted maple and steel reinforcement rods to a Fender MIM jazz neck made of roasted maple without reinforcements.
I lost some treble and zings but the sound is now punchier.
I didn't lose any bass depth and impact so overall very satisfied with the result.
I realized it's a kind of a gambling and you never know what the result will be until you give it a try !
I don't know about Player models with maple fb but Pao Ferro ones are to be avoid at all costs. Warps easily and useless trussrod
Can anyone else give a scientifically backed reason as to why this would be true? I assume both models use the same truss rod.?.?…. I have owned both a maple and a Pau Ferro player series neck. The truss rod was not useless on either. Again, I assume they were identical parts. Both necks were stable. I gig at least 150 shows a year and have never had an issue with either of my player series necks.
