This one has a CMHC serial number and the inspection tag has the GR on the border which would indicate that it was made at Grand Reward.
Maybe it's the same factory and they just had a name change?

Amazing information! i've always suspected it was the same factory because of the finish of the instruments with CMHC serial number.
In the end, I only kept the neck, and while the trustrod is 4mm Allen Wrench, the quality of the gloss poly finish and binding are very "Grand Reward"y.

Wow. Nice color!! No way I could justify it either. Have two nnice J basses already. That color is great though!

Yeah...I feel exactly the same way when it comes to the James Johnston Jazz. I've had a couple of close calls, but there's always been something stopping me. Either it's a "no justification" thing or something even better has presented itself simultaneously...and that's saying something, given how awesome they are. :(

Kidding, of course! Speaking as a former art student, that's fantastic! It's just abstract enough to look cool, but not at all unidentifiable! Nice touch with the white highlights on the edges of the gloss black finish, too! 🤘👨‍🎨

What would you pay for this CV 70s P bass with mods and dings?

It's a 2016 model made in China. Mods are Lollar split coil pickup, Lollar electronics, Hipshot high mass bridge, and a tort pickguard. Has new nickel rounds and comes with a basic gig bag.
Only downside is there's a bunch of dings at the bottom end of the body. Front and back of body are in good shape with minor blems that you'd have to look hard to spot. Neck is flawless. Bass is supposedly around 8lbs.

What do you think is a fair price?

If everything fine except the paint dings , sure worth to grab with $200-250 .
