Yeah. Its maple, the layer of polish looks quite thick and maybe enhances the yellow and is a bit misleadingIs the body maple? Looks like alder, maybe. CV70s natural is maple. Either way, both are good.

I ended up changing the LTF flats out for GHS Pressurewounds. They seem to work well with this bass. I have been using them for years.
Well per year, Grand Reward serial numbers can hold 99 999 instruments (let's round it to 100 000) and it contains all the models they produce. If we devide in let's says 60% for guitars, and 40% for basses, and with the 2 additional Jazz 60 models (Inca Silver), Olympic White), plus a few rare FSR models (Sea Foam Green and Bronze P and Candy Apple Red, and Black J, let's say 40000 / 4 = 10 000 let's say each color got 8000 exemplaries over the course of 7 years, so roughly I'd say there are 112 000 Sonic & Fiesta Ps in the world? A TOTAL GUESS
EDIT: it's probably less though, because they were a lot of other models too...

This is my Squier Classic Vibe Crated in China 60s Jazz Bass, that I bought second hand on December 11th of 2018 and since modified it. I also asked my grandpa to sign it (and who since then left me to a another world), so that I'd promise myself never to separate from it.
This isn't my first bass, but that's first bass guitar that I fell in love with.
The modifications I've made :

This isn't my first bass, but that's first bass guitar that I fell in love with.
The modifications I've made :
- added a thin brass stripe to use as grounding of bridge pickup cavity like '60 and '61 models
- replaced the original pickguard with a Fender red tortoise-shell (top layer is celluloid)
- replaced the original 3-knobs control plate with a 2-dual/stacked knobs that I kept in a VVT wiring (to prevent loss of volume and harmonics) like '60 and 61' models
- replace the original high-quality Taiwan made tuning machines with Gotoh FB30 Lollipop nickel tuning machines (today!) like '66 and '67 models

New old stock Matt Freeman neck ( pre drill ) order from China .
While I ordered many of these necks and had hits and LOTS of miss, I must correct what you are saying: this is NOT new old stock. This is FACTORY REJECTED parts. Some of them have physical (looks) damage, some of them have minor geometry issues, but other are plain defecting: warped or with broken trussrods (happened once on a Strat neck I got for a friend), or if you're lucky, you just need another planimetry:fret job.
But these are already drilled for a reason, they were mounted on a body and during QC testing, these necks got rejected.
That being said, I hope your neck is okay! I wish I could find another Matt Freeman neck!

Are these necks you're talking about the ones sold on eBay by The STRATosphere?
Not at all, STRATosphere is in the USA (and I suspect they are Fender), we are talking about sellers from China that probably worked at Grand Reward factory.
The Matt Freeman neck been returned to seller before the P bass body arrive since i don't want take risk and lot setup work with it.
Before i get the Mattfreeman P neck , i am actually try out few new Indo Fender Std P at music store myself . This new indo Fender Std P are nice, the neck feel quite similar to Squier 40th Av Vintage P. but not the kind of great like CIC Squier CV .
Don't get me wrong, this new indo Fender Std P are nice choice for who never own CIC Squier CV bass , and for someone hate to see the Squier decal on headstock.
So, now the P body are married with Bacchus Roasted Maple neck that i remove from Jazz bass body. I love this solid build roasted maple J neck, but i rarely play it because i prefer P vibe.
Make it to hot rod P , few mod/touch up and setup in progress.....

Recent find right here on TB! I'm amazed at the quality and the upgrades are just right (Darkglass, Hipshot long tuners by me). Question, this is the only one I've ever seen satin or matte fiesta red finish on this early CV. Anyone ever seen a satin or matte version before?

Have not, but with the mods the previous owner could have hit it with satin clear coat
or hit it with "0000" steel wool, maybe reach
out to the seller. Have you asked about it?

My CV 50's Precision had pot issues. From day one (bought used but it's a '23). The pots didn't respond to de-ox-it and were cutting in and out so I had my luthier replace them. The original knobs didn't fit the new pots so now it has Fender knobs. (This pic is before the upgrade) The instrument is very happy now. Sounds and plays great. Also has a new pickguard.
