Anybody pre-order the 40th anniversary basses? I jumped on the LPB pbass. Not a CV technically but should be coming from the same factory and similar specs right?

As classy and slick as the Olympic White one looks, I may have to jump on one of the Ruby Red Gold Edition Jazzes!

The ruby red jazz bass is a jaw dropper. They have a couple of 6 strings that have me weak at the knees too, especially the Sherwood green telecaster. I would have been in heaven if they had made the 51 precision in Sherwood…. I already own 2 of the LPB models from the 2010 CV run

Besides, it wouldn't be the first time it's happened. The Japanese-made Fender JB-75 looks like a '70s reissue, but for some reason, it had '60s-era pickup spacing.
And then there was the Squier Vintage Modified '70s Jazzes. They may have had '70s-era styling, but the bodies were built along '60s-era basses throughout their entire run. It's only recently, with the second-gen Classic Vibes, that we finally got Squiers with '70s-era placement.
…and I can live with that!

Yes and the Fender MIM Classic 70s Jazz Bass started in 2008/2009 also had faulty production and some used body had the wrong pickup spacing. A bummer -_-
I can't say with any authority, but I can't help but wonder if it was either a clerical error, with Fender MIM Standard bodies getting mixed up at the factory (black and sunburst Jazz bodies don't exactly stand out in that crowd), or if it was a stop-gap measure to meet production quotas and they hoped no one would notice.

I thought the same as you, Sir! But, hoping it was just the first idea, a pure human error, and YOU KNOW WHY I HOPE IT WAS A MISTAKE? Cause back in that time, on Fender's website, they were boasting the fact that these models had the right pickup spacing from the 72-81 era. It would be very shameful to claim it was the "real" thing if they sent the wrong "bodies" on production on purpose! Hopefully my English is clear enough, my brain is a little off today... woo

Yeah, for now.
I have some weather stripping under the bridge cover, that I can convince myself serves some purpose. But mostly they're cosmetic and on there for me to stare at and daydream while I should be practicing or working.
I happened upon this NOS 2019 Classic Vibe 60's Jazz bass last week and had to take it home. I'll post a pic of it once I've installed the chrome ashtray covers on it.
