This is on it's way to me! From the TB classifieds, CIC CV 70s Pbass! Dimarzio Model P already installed (original pickup included in the sale). I love the cream pickup cover on it. Bridge cover is included but I kinda like the look without it. I'm pumped! I have had 2 of the CIC CV 60's Jazz basses and they were great (I regrettably sold both of them, you think I'd learn my lesson). I hope I've learned enough to hold on to this one!!
I can really sympathize! I also had two CV '60s Jazzes at different times. One I traded towards a beautiful, used MIM Fender Classic '70s Jazz, so that was a perfectly acceptable deal. The other, the first I owned, was a brand-new, NOS one that I traded for a Mikey Way Squier Mustang. In hindsight, that was not a good deal at all, especially in light of how I acquired it.
Story time!
Back in 2013, when Best Buy was eliminating their entire Musical Instruments department and related stock, a store about an hour away had it priced for liquidation AND still in it's original shipping box!At first, we couldn't find it on display, despite the fact that their computers said it was still listed as in-stock. Since I had worked at a Best Buy years before, I had an idea of what might've been going on and I asked them to see if it was still in the Inventory warehouse. Sure enough, it had never left their stock room to be put out on the floor!
After letting me open it up to check it's condition, I bought it without hesitation. It looked, felt and sounded great and I never should've let it get away from me.
I recently had one of these, but I just kept the neck because it was flamed and quarter-sawn. But it was a 2018 with the standard bridge and normal size bridge cover. The body wasn't NOT basswood BUT RATHER Alder!! Was impressed.
TD, what's the routing under the PG of your CV J? Curious minds want to know....before a potential purchase. I know that this iteration of the CV '60s fretless, which comes with a PG has the classic 60s Fender routing, so you run these w/o a PG like Jaco. But I'm not sure if you can do this with the fretted models. Thanks!
My CIC Squier 70's P-bass arrived today. I am absolutely over the moon. The feel is incredible. The Dimarzio Model P sounds amazing. I put some DR Nickel Lo Riders on it and changed the knobs. I'll probably end up ordering some classic flat top chrome knobs. I can't wait to play it out this weekend.

I feel exactly the same way. I’ve never really been a fan of these kind of speed knobs on bass. The knobs that came on it were chrome, but the were pretty small and looked and felt cheap. I had these speed knobs sitting around so I figured I’d put them on temporarily. But they are growing on me!
I actually think I have a set of white Strat knobs

Glad to see this thread is still active! I’m currently stumped over this one as I’ve done a lot of research on this bass.
I even noticed a signature behind the headstock that looks to be sharpie’d in.
Can’t tell if it’s an actual CIC Squier Precision or a parts bass. I mean I picked it up anyway considering the price and how it felt in my hands. Could anyone help me out?

Looks like a CV 70’s P Bass neck .
No clue on the signature. Someone signed it but who knows. The body could be a Matt Freeman.
I literally thought it was a Matt Freeman the first I saw it but the neck threw me off!
Serial shows a 2015 date, tag says 2018? Super good price. Unfamiliar with that color but I think a Matt Freeman would have large brass saddles and a tugbar. Crafted in China 70's vibe neck. Check out the knobs and strap buttons. Strange and cool find!
