Squier Classic Vibe Club (Part 3)

I'm sure this has been addressed in this thread before but I figure I'll just ask. Does anyone know what pickguard replacements are a good fit for a CIC 70's Precision? Fender only? Those Fleor, Musiclily, Kaish, (or whatever) from Amazon?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks man. But that's the bridge cover. Looking for the pickup cover.

Wait a minute. Now I found one that looks like that! Hmmm...
Bridge cover is more triangle-ish.
Here's a pic of it, same seller...

Those CIC Squier CV60p ,70P and MF Sig has standard Fender pbass pickguard size.

I highly recommend Pleroo from AliExpress which fit on my previous CIC fiesta red 60P, brown tort and mint green.

Cool! Thanks so much! Is there a template for where the holes should be drilled or did you just "eyeball" it?
No problem Kipp, to be clear the pic of 50's p is not mine. On my basses I eyeball them. I am a bit ocd and want the cover square to the body (bridge end) sometimes the bridges are installed a little out of square and since it is under the cover I like the cover to be ascetically right.

Some templates have a "cut out" for placing over the bridge/pu and if they are mounted off a little so will your holes or marks.

If you want a base or starting point just search Fender ashtray cover template, plenty available.

I have used Musiclily and Fleor. Buyer beware the Musiclily TORT looks like pepperoni.

It’s here! The mysterious Squier bass that I thought was a CV Matt Freeman bass (check post #1697)

Got it home and disassembled the entire instrument. It’s interesting how I see no identification of its origin. Not even inside the neck pocket. The neck however was very suspicion, the fact there’s holes drilled already puts me off given the fact I’m actually looking to sell the neck..

The results I was presented on this bass leads me to believe it’s a parts bass. For the price I paid I guess it wasn’t too bad but of a score..

Sadly I see that the last fret isn't fixed :(

Don't sell the neck, fill the holes and redrill. Buy a proper Precision bass body ! I knew the body wasn't Matt Freeman. It looks oddly shaped

My new '21 CIC (CMHC s/n). 9lb 5oz.
Bought it last Sat from L&M. I was the first to play it - they brought it out in the sealed box from their storage room.
Just got it back today from getting it's complimentary set up (which it needed) from the L&M shop.
Got D'addario NPS 45-105 strings on it. Plays well now. I'll be keeping it.
Laurel looks really rosewood-y. Not the grey-ish colour from a lot of the pictures on the web.
Photos taken outside on a cloudy day with iPhone 12. Pretty accurate colour for reference.

Congratulations! What a fantastic looking bass! Bet it plays like a dream too! I almost pulled the trigger on the exact same bass a couple of years ago, but ended up with a Squier CV 70S FSR P bass. Enjoy!

Funny enough I prefer that Squier over the Vintera.

Makes perfect sense to me. For the same money as Ventera buy 2 CV’s and still have $220 left for mods or accessories.

However, this kind of thinking tends to lead to other issues. Now have 40 basses for about the cost of one birth year bass. Wife approved purchase of birth year bass but I went a different direction. She’s gone but I have a nice little bass collection. They don’t eat, nag, or waste money on things like hair, pocketbooks or shoes. Lmao.

WOW that is a remarkable lookin
Classic Vibe! (If you know) are the headstocks (seems darker than usual) and dark board standard or did you get a gem? Nice score!

Congrats it is a great looking bass

Thanks Man.
I've seen dark tinted headstocks on them, but I think it might be a bit random whether you get the grey or lighter laurel or the dark red/brown stuff that I got.
I wonder if it has something to do with the production back in China again?
Here's one on the Sweetwater site right now. Made in Indonesia, dark headstock but lighter board. Lighting in the picture is different though of course.
Feeling I got lucky with mine. Appearance wise anyway.
