The '50s is the one I've got my sights on. It covers just about everything I've been GAS-ing for:

A single-coil P
Tele headstock and contoured body (with no Stinglay )
A bass with a blue finish

And it's only $300! And I, too, really liked the neck on the VM Tele, so this should be comfy.

The 50s one is calling me as well but I simply don't need it.

I've already got my Warmoth '54 goldie, another '54 blonde on the way and I've got a '73 Tele bass that I'm about to finally begin refinishing.

I love the blue finish though. The maple fretboard looks a bit tooo white. I like a bit of a tint to them.

Just got the Classic Vibe Jazz from MF via UPS yesterday. I ordered it on the first day it became "in stock." It was made June 28 so I must be one of the first I assume.

Just like all the raves the Squier Classic Vibe guitars are getting, I can confirm the quality is excellent. I was stunned to see it actually came with a Quality Control Check list and that the action and nut came with height measurement checks in millimeters. And then two other quality control check marks. Wow. The finish is perfect. I love the amber tinted and beautifully done poly finished neck.

The sound is excellent. No dead notes and the pots and volume controls are quiet as a mouse. The knobs even turn slow - I love that.

I was dying to get an American Standard, but this will do for now - and for $700 less!

I will try to get some pics postes asap. I especially want to post a pic of the Quality Control check list. That should turn a few heads of Squier naysayers . . .

The only thing lacking is the frets are not polished at all. They are small-size frets, too, but I guess that is the 60s vibe element in the design. The good news is there was no clacking.

Now that is a sweet Jazz! I hope that the local stores here in the Philippines will have that by next month Is it safe to assume that the quality of this bass is the same as the quality of the VM Jazz?

Nice! I'm glad the CV J-bass has a neck like this. I did not care for the untinted, satin-finished necks on the VM series. I came real close to picking up a VM Jazz or the VM Telebass, but the necks were the dealbreaker. Wasn't so much the look, but the feel. Somehow they feel mushy like balsa wood to me. Just my opinion, of course. I think they are quality instruments overall.

But I FAR prefer the necks on my SX and Turser to the Squier VM.
