Squier Deluxe Dimension Bass (IV & V string)

just ordered the sunburst, 5 stringer. cant wait to lay my hands on it! just one question, does anyone know if the coils can be tapped? the fenders do, that is why i wondered.
Ok, I'm thinking of getting one of these in black with maple board 5 stringer. Let's talk Dimension Deluxe..... what's the pro's and con's of this bass? 
I currently play Rock, some Funk, Blues and Gospel. Will this bass be able to fit with these styles? I already own a Squier VM Jazz. And I am selling a ATK205 now.

It will work just fine in all of those styles. Ironically, I may just let my Dimension go because I just got a lead on a used HH Dimension four at a great price. This would be an $1,800 bass for $900.
Update 2: The more I play this bass the more I am getting used to it and enjoying it. Coming from mostly jazz bass or dual pickup basses, I had to get used to the tone that is unique to the pickup position. The sound is fantastic. I can't wait to gig with it on Saturday.
I have decided to keep my Squier Dimension V. That MIA Dimension is sweet, but I might as well not blow $700 for a four string when I love fives.
I put a touch more relief in my bass' neck because my action was too low for my heavy hands. I really love the tone now without the buzz!

One thing about this bass that keeps surprising me is how well it works with my drive pedals, for an active instrument. It works brilliantly with the VT Bass, and drives my Blower Box very nicely - almost like a passive instrument.

I think the Dimension much closer to an ATK than an actual 'Ray. An American Dimension will be much more like a real EBMM bass.
Why would the American version have more of the 'Ray sound? I've never actually seen one in person, so not sure what would set them apart.
I will say mine doesn't strike me as having a pronounced 'Ray vibe - which is good in a way, as I still need an excuse to get an EBMM

The MIA version has pickups with beefier pole pieces and a more powerful preamp. It certainly has much more headroom than the Squier.
Post gig update:
I used my Squier Dimension bass for all tunes I played with my dance band. I played it through my Markbass LM2 + Hartke 210xl. It sounded great. It provided plenty of clean articulate low end. It's a keeper.

I'm still on the fence about ordering one. I found just a few sound clips on YouTube, not many though.
Does this bass sit in the mix well? Can it also stand out if needed?

I played mine at church today. Last week, I added a touch of relief because I was hearing too much string clank in the first position, especially when slapping. The clank is much reduced now, with a touch of bass and midrange boost, it still cuts through with lots of treble. It also growls like a wild animal!
I felt I sat in the mix perfectly. I received compliments on my playing and how my part fit in with the group. There was plenty of low end with some very nice overtones for color. I kept the treble and mids completely cut and the bass in the mid position. For a few tunes I bumped the mids a bit and it starts growling and really cutting through.
I guess this will be the last of my comparison posts. I went down to GC to play some MarkBass rigs and to check out a good deal on a Dimension IV HH. My Dimension sounded fine through the MarkBass 800w amp and 2x10 cabinet. It got plenty of bottom without having to boost the bass like I do on the church's 250w TC Electronic combo. The HH Dimension did not sound anything like a Stingray or Sterling HH, it was closer to a G&L sort of sound except for the second setting which got in th neighborhood of a Stingray. The finish, tuners, and body wood on that American HH are top notch, but the sound was not what I wanted to hear. I keep being impressed with my Squier Dimension V. I have said it before, but this bass would be a good deal at $550, let alone $330.
Agreed. Here in the UK, the Dimension has recently gone up by £45 since I bought mine, and I'd still have no qualms about buying a new one instantly. When I play it, it just feels like a more expensive bass.
