Squier Deluxe Jazz Active 6-string? Yep! (pics)

Hi guys, sorry for posting in old topic, but there is one thing i would like to know about this modification.

What about original pickups on this bass, are they bladed pickups? Can they be used with six strings? I'm considering in doing this myself so i want to know, do i have to buy new pickups and route the body. Thank you, and sorry for my bad english!

Ok so for $300 for Squier and $150 in parts I just had to try it for myself. Scariest was drilling the tuner hole...rest was a piece-o-cake. It remarkable how easy it was to do this mod and how well it turned out. Mind you the string spacing is tight (around 16 or 16.5 mm), but this is now a great backup bass...

Very nice job!

What bridge did you use if you don't mind me asking?

And do you notice any inconsistencies volumewise, now that the strings are not 'properly' aligned?

Thanks

Bridge is @ (others provide this too):

Preslotted nut (black or cream) can be purchased at:

The stock pickups and preamp work just fine for the 6-string mod...no drop outs...but the string spacing is very tight (16-16.5mm or there abouts), but that is what I wanted...great fender-esque tone and thump, great playability...
