Squier/Doom Bassquiers 49: Squiers The Beef?

Maybe in straight doom, but I definitely play some lines in Supervoid that push the limits of my playing, including some parts where I'm playing as fast as physically possible.

And I realize you're mostly joking. Just saying, the way I play in Supervoid technique is definitely important.

The timing in some of The 5th Child's stuff is difficult for me, since the guitarist and I are sometimes playing something totally different from what the drummer is playing.

Then some stuff in Catapult the Dead is difficult from a fast perspective.

In order to get a tone I like out of my 2x15 on its own I have to eq my amp radically different than I do with my 6x10 (both NV series bergantinos). However, using the same/normal eq settings that I use with my 6x10 on its own, adding the 2x15 makes everything sound exponentially better.

So maybe try the 2x15 with the 8x10 at the same time and see how it works out?

haha
What's the bpm? 60?
Whoah, easy there fella.

Dogfish Head 90min and someother stuff.... I don't do this very often.

Sounding excellent.

Oh man, where have I been? Throwing some shoes on and heading down to the store to pick this bad boy up. That bass sounds crazy! They nailed the mix if you ask me. What do you suppose he is using? I saw a live clip of HOF at SXSW 2012, and he was rocking a Fender Jazz, but as for his drive, not too sure. They are throwing down some solid riffs.

That's what I was thinking. Guitarist thinks I'm insane, but agrees it will probably sound awesome. I'm thinking I'll like the sound of a pair of kappa lite 3015s better and I'll cut 30 lbs off the cab's weight.

Fender twin, drums, pa for vox. In E standard. Kinda like desert stoner/folk/rockabilly. One guitar. So far just used my svt 3 pro.

I think it's an 85'. Speakers don't have aluminum comes so I don't think they're black widows. Gonna take them out and look tomorrow but what could they be? Eminence?

May swap them with something newer. May sell these...

you shouldnt be getting lost with 15s unless youre just making mud. if you want punch and cut 15s usually arent the best route, not to say they cant work but 10s are much punchier and cut more in my experience.

i cant imagine youre playing insanely loud either so either the speakers are complete crap or you just need to mess with some EQ and see how it works in the band setting. i was very unimpressed with the peavey speakers i had for a short time, they farted everywhere and couldnt take any sort of power on clean, so i got rid of them (wish i had the box back, 218s and 210s in one enclosure was awesome haha).

speaking of squiers, gonna pick up this baby next week if everything goes as planned:

I've always found it's most comfortable for both hands to have the bass's body sort of centered at my waist, neither above nor below. Just feels natural there and my arms are both fairly relaxed.

I am not telling anyone how to play their instrument. I mean to some bass teacher I probably have my bass too low. I was simply pointing out that there is another positive besides balance for having your bass higher. Also, it isn't necessarily only about feeling natural it is about leverage and being able to play things in an easier manner which therefore allows you to play more difficult things. I was particularly responding to Laz because, if I am not mistaken, he has been taking lessons. Then as he responded he does play parts where he is pushing his playing ability to the max. If you aren't doing that (as I am not at the moment) then it doesn't really matter where you have your bass. However, down the line I might want to play faster more complicated stuff and I don't want to have to unlearn bad technique (as I don't think Laz does either)
